Showing your face in youtube videos?? Or Not??

Hey all

I'm going to start making some youtube videos to promote my website when it goes up.
Now, I don't exactly want to show my face in the videos. I'm pretty shy and don't really want to be recognized if my videos happened to get some views.

I am starting a website in the health niche.

Should I show my face in the videos or would it be fine if I did more of an informational audio/text/slideshow/picture video?

Does one seem to convert more than the other?

Any resources you fine people could direct me to on the subject??

Thanks!

Yeah! You could do both and see for yourself which one's really effective. Oh well, you have to also consider that as a part of your work. How can you become successful if you'd choose to be an anonymous?

I can relate. I used to be shy and lacked the confidence necessary to put myself out there. The only thing that worked for me was to face my fear and do it anyway.

If you really are too shy to do that right now, then make videos where you are using slides and start with just your voice.

After awhile, your confidence will build and you can then start putting your face into it.

Rory is right. I was shy too. The best way to sell is face to face if you want to establish trust. However you can still do screenshots and explainer videos for sure. I use a combination of all and it works pretty good.....there a few secrets of youtube however that allow you to use other peoples videos...for FREE. Look into it and you won't be disappointed.

I've found that doing a split screen for some presentations, powerpoint and small window of my webcam chest on up, helped with the trust factor in my videos and it helped me convert the leads that i got better.

If your written script sounds really good and your presentation is cleaned up, then it may not matter. But generally showing myself in my videos has helped my conversions as compared to videos of just a voice over.

For me, I find that when I SEE the person in the video, I'm able to establish more trust with them. It's not true in every case, probably just most cases. If you're nervous, consider joining Toast Masters. I attended these meetups for a year and my public speaking/confidence in front of the camera skyrocketed. Just remember: always do what makes you scared...it means you're progressing as a person Good luck.

I use a cartoon character of myself and/or a cartoon mascot.

    Seems to work for me.

Youtube not only looks at the comments, likes and shares, but also at how active people are when they watch your video and how long they watch it for. It’s a crucial metric that youtube looks at to help rank your video.

If your videos only include screen-capture content or slides, then you are at a higher risk of losing viewers. You need to combine a talking head along with slides and illustrations.

You’ll discover the importance of why you need to show your face in a video.

Man, you don't have to be shy about it. If you muster all your courage and record/upload a video on YouTube for the sake of your business/website, you might be rewarded. Practice is the key. Meet people, speak and gradually build your confidence and if you believe you are ready, you can make a video wherein you can show your face and not be shy about it,

If you don't want to show your face, don't worry about it. Instead, work on keeping your scripts short, to the point, and interesting. Most 5 minute videos could be 2 minutes and still present the same info if some forethought was put into the script along with good editing.

You can use the free audio editing program Audacity to change the pitch of your voice a little so even your voice won't be recognized. I do this myself on a number of channels. Just remember your settings in Audacity so your voice has consistency.

The more you concentrate on the audio content, the less you have to be concerned with the video portion. Think about creating an excellent podcast using video to simply enhance the voice-over content.
