Where can I find internet marketing budget figures for big corporations?

I'm looking for actual internet marketing statistics and figures on how much money specific companies have spent on SEO and internet marketing in 2014. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Of course, the best and most reliable source of such information would be the company itself.

But good luck with that. I don't share financial information and neither will most private companies.

Public companies are a different story; however, you will probably not find the information readily or in the format you want. Public companies are required to produce annual reports including income, expense, and balance sheet information. The figures you want will be buried in the financial reports somewhere but I doubt you will find a line item called "Internet marketing budget."

I can't imagine why such information would be helpful to you. The size of the company budget has no implications for you. Established companies have very specific marketing costs and strategies and breaking into their vendor list would be nigh impossible for the solo marketer.

Actually the largest companies generally do share financial information -- the SEC requires them to if they are listed on a public stock exchange.

To find information like this, your best bet is to go to the company's corporate website (as opposed to their public website). For instance Google has a site https://investor.google.com/ where they have a variety of financial reports, slides and even raw data you can download. That said, my guess is it probably won't be broken down into neat categories like "Internet Marketing" like you're looking for.

Thanks Kilgore, I'll look into that. And to answer your question Steve, this is for a piece I'm writing.
