How to Use Facebook Ads Effectively?

Does anyone know of a helpful course or post on using Facebook ads?

I've dabbled with it before, set a small budget of $10 per day, but cancelled after two days out of fear that Facebook will charge me more than my minimum budget.

Can Facebook do that to you -- charge more than your daily budget?

Also, is it a requirement that you spend more in order to make more sales?

When I used FB ads before, I received more likes (I did not buy them), but I haven't used it to sell anything yet.

Your experience and knowledge is greatly appreciated!

    I've used facebook ads to generate a ton of leads to my business and sales. It is extremely powerful.

    When you advertise, make sure you explore the facebook ad retargeting options to build a custom list of everyone who visits your ad. This custom list you can then market to again and again for far cheaper.

    In order to make more sales you either have to:

    1. Split test to increase the conversion to sale using the same amount of money
    2. Spend more money to scale up once your funnel is profitable

    It is rare that facebook will go over your daily budget and if they do it'll be around a $1 or $2 max from my experiences.

    Facebook ads are incredible stuff and lots of people are just crushing it with it.

    You have to be very careful with facebook. Set your daily budget as low as possible to start with otherwise as you said they will suck you dry in no time at all. sometimes impressions can work as effectively as clicks. It's all about finding the right balance and getting the cost down before FB take everything

    I am beginning to realize that I have so much to learn about Facebook advertising.

    I just ran a six day $15 campaign for my Fiverr profile. I found out that two major west coast universities are in the final two weeks of their semester. I targeted a)18-21 year olds, b)in college, c)English speaking, d)in the specific zip codes of the two universities. I figured my writing, researching, and editing services might be particularly relevant to that demographic right now. The ad reached about 2600 people, and if I understand correctly, the frequency was about eight times each. The entire campaign garnered fourteen clicks.

    I have no idea if that was a good result or not, but so far as I can tell, it didn't result in any orders.

    Sometimes Facebook do charge a little more but not more than few cents.
    Facebook ads are very effective in selling things if done in the right way. It requires some research about the interests of people who are most likely to purchase your product.

    You have to take some Risk if you really want to be successful.

    And I have not heard any issues related to this with FB overcharging

    You have to know and follow their advertiser rules before you do anything. I have heard a lot of stories of people's accounts being shut down.

    Kind of like other pay per click platforms, you have to send the traffic to your own website and not to an affiliate link.

    I'd say you just need to test things out. Start with a small budget and do some split testing, see what works best in your case.

    FB won't overcharge. Imagine the class action lawsuits hitting them like angry hornets if they tried to pull a fast one.

    Think of it this way: Why would FB jeopardize its multibillion dollar valuation for a few $10 ad orders?

    I've dabbled in FB ppc off and on for one year now and I have a few thoughts.

    Facebook pay per click ads are constantly getting more and more expensive as the people advertising their are growing expontentially every single day. It is sooo competitive that if you don't have a narrowly targeted niche, you will spend a small fortune with little to no return, and will get lost in the craziness.

    I used facebook ads for a while, but found I was breaking even or so with my advertising costs verses my revenue so decided to stop using it. I am sure if you really work it there is some money there, but its more effort than I want to put into it.

    Facebook don't overcharge. Set up a lifetime budget instead a daily one and Facebook will stop exactly when ad costs reaches your budget limit. Something you want to keep in mind is that FB give you credits. It can charge starting ar $25 and it will bill you when you reach this amount (Billing threshold) or at the end of each month, whatever occurs first. It increments to $50, $250, $500 and up to $750 depending on your ad spend history. So, sometimes (rarely) it can charge some extra pennies if you set up a daily budget but again it will not charge more than your budget limit.
