I just found a free wordpress hosting site - wondered if anyone has any experience using it?

While I'm not a fan of free hosting services, this site looks pretty interesting.

Get Shifter!

Get Shifter (whooops - almost made a naughty typo is owned by buzzdroid media, which seems to be a fairly up-front company. BuzzDroid.com

I wondered if anyone has used it, or can point out anything that might not be 'a good thing' about this site?

I have many hosted blogs using my own domain names which are privately hosted. However, this site looks so appealing to me that I wondered if there would be any benefit to signing up and perhaps using it as a vehicle to cross-promote some of my other Internet Real Estate?

Can anyone see any pitfalls to using this service?

It does look nice. I didn't see a list of the plugins that you can use or if you can use your own even.

Might have to give it a shot.

I was about to jump in and give words of warning about free hosted sites, but this actually does look quite interesting.

I checked the stats of the url, and traffic and rank is very low, but it may well just be because it's a new setup. If it works well for people it could pick up quickly.

The only thing I'd want to check is if there is some way you can backup your content. You know, so that if it doesn't go well for them and they shut down, you can take your content and put it somewhere else.

If you use it, let us know about the experience!

I just signed up as I've spent time today looking for free blogs to set up to drive traffic to a client's website.

It uses an old version of Wordpress, so don't use it in a situation where you are concerned about security.

Thanks everyone, for your responses. I think I'm going to give it a try with one of my parked domains. I wonder how difficult it would be to sell to a buyer - the domain name and the content, that is. If you could just push a site to a new owner by changing the registration information, that would be a plus.
