Affiliate Marketing For PPC Company?

Hey Warrior Forum people! You may remember me from such threads as "I suck at making money online". I wrote some erotica books that sold for ~$1000 a month. Nothing too spectacular.

Anyway, long story short, a friend of mine started a PPC management company about a year ago and I am now working with him. We manage Google Adwords accounts for small businesses. We get most of our leads from Adwords, which as you can imagine gets quite expensive. That being said, we both have a sales background and do a decent job of closing them over the phone as opposed to having them just sign up and pay without ever speaking to us.

We charge $499 per month for management, $299 (one time) set up fee and (one time) $899 for a PPC landing page (if they need one). Obviously not everyone is willing to pay that much, but it gives us a lot of room for negotiation which helps when you are dealing with people over the phone.

On average I would say we spend at least 40 minutes on the phone with a prospect figuring out their business, talking to them and getting an idea on how to do their campaign. We are American, professional and do everything in house.

Our problem is that leads are expensive and we need more of them. We can close the deal once we have them on the phone and get the work done, the problem is just getting ahold of these people in a "warm" way. We don't want to call people out of the phone book, we want them to have at least some level of interest in what we do just because we've found that works better.

I had the idea of affiliate marketing. Not sure if it would work, but my first thought was to pop over here and get some feedback from you guys on it.

Ideally, we'd like some kind of arrangement where you guys get us the leads or calls, or traffic to the site or whatever and we close them. Then we agree on a split to make it worthwhile for both parties. If you have a better idea I'm all ears.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the site, but feel free to check us out at BlueOceanPPC.com android- A new kind of PPC management firm. Pay Per Click Specialists. if you're curious.

EDIT: not sure why the link is showing up that way. Weird!

Thanks and feel free to leave a reply or get in touch if you want to have a chat!

I started an advertising agency specializing in small local businesses, doing something very similar. Running their campaigns on FB and other networks.

I sent out physical postcards to over 1500 businesses in my area. I followed up with a phone call within a week, and moved on to a meeting in person.

I picked up 19 clients in the first month, 17 of which I still manage.

Interesting idea. What did you use for the mailer?

I used USPS. I do a little graphic design so I created and printed them myself.

There are companies out there that specialize in postcard marketing campaigns though, so you could have it outsourced.

It worked really well for me. After I built up my initial client base, I put someone else in charge of running it, since my time is better spent focusing on my affiliate business. It's a great source of passive income as long as you hire a competent team, and properly incentivize them. I haven't had to do any more mailing campaigns since I've brought in a lot of clients through direct referrals from my initial customers. - Besides increasing their business, I give them better monthly rates for sending other businesses my way. Any company worth their salt, will usually have a pretty decent network in place.

So, just to be clear: these are leads that you already had, or were they provide by the marketing company? They do the mailer AND give you their contact info?

Or were you only calling to follow up with the people who returned the postcards? How did it work?

          Thx

I think it's a good idea. Just create a page calls affiliates, and pay a fixed fee like $50 for a call or whatever you think is fair value for high quality inbound calls. Have an email address on the page like affiliates@blueoceanppc.com - if you then get someone seriously interested in promoting you just open an agency account with some call tracking company give them client access, and give them a unique number to promote. That approach at least limits your risk if you get zero interest.

I run a ppc management business with Microsoft on the side. My prices start at $750 - $2,100 for a one time client registration fee. That includes me getting together with the customer to discuss the business's goals and just to get to understand both the owner and their business and what they are trying to accomplish. After that my prices start off at $100 or somewhere around there for monthly management fee's. Depending on the traffic budget of course.

    Anyways...

Using affiliates sounds like a fantastic idea, why not? Leverage! Ask for those testimonials from your current clients and always swing a little extra for them if you know what I mean maybe even give them a month or two of management for free.

Did you know that people trust online reviews from complete strangers over 90% of the time?

Make sure to add your site and business to google local, tripadvisor, facebook, twitter, foursquare, yelp and others.

Ask your customers not only for their testimonial but ask them to leave a review for you on those social sites especially yelp. Don't let people fool you that yelp is just for restaurant owners! ;-)
