Hi Smartclick, I'm unclear as to what you need. You mention "am not doing anything with my mailing list" ... so you DO have one? The rest of your post seems to lean toward you don't and need help getting started. Going from that frame of mind there are MANY free scripts to get started with. Go to Hot Scripts - The net's largest PHP, CGI, Perl, JavaScript and ASP script collection and resource web portal. and search for autoresponder, mailing list, email script yada yada then chose one that fits your needs. For a free and easy start up option you might consider phpList ( phplist.com : Homepage : home ) ... it's got some nice features ... easy to install ... and it's free. That will get you started so you can learn and build from there. Good Luck! |

| Sorry I haven't responded before ... post got buried and I missed your reply. Hopefully you have had time to look over the options I mentioned and, in turn, have installed a script. If not you need to get that done! One thing ... since we talked I heard that Parabots has started giving away their AR system. I have downloaded it but haven't tried it BUT I have heard lots of good feedback. Check 'em out at http://parabots.com Once you do that you'll need to consolidate your list. Typically you'll need a export .csv file of the lists. Once you have that you just need to import the list to your new AR system. Detailed info on how to do that should be included with your AR System. I don't know how old your subscribers are and how long it has been since you have sent anything to them. As a general rule ... anything over 6 months old with no contact MIGHT cause spam complaints. So I recommend you create a generic AR that sends them a message stating something to the effect of ... "Hi <NAME_HERE>, You have been on my mailing list (or purchased something from me), but it's been a while since I have sent you any info. We are revamping our newsletter and wanted you to know." Typically that is sufficient to remind folks BUT you can even go a step further by offering them a freebie download if they optin again. Include a link to a splash page telling them about the freebie that has the new AR signup form. Make it double optin if you like (preferable) but that's your call if the previous sign up was double optin. From there only work the new AR with good information and resources for at least 7 messages. After that you can start really pitching things you sell or affiliate with. Of course you can put small ads in all the messages but I recommend the first seven be more informative and are used to warm them up. Should you decide to go this way it's ok to resend the same message to your generic AR to try to get them over to the new one. I don't recommend you do that more than 5-7 times. After that, kill off that AR. Should you decide to only work the generic AR use the same method to warm them up as well. Just skip the subscription form at the bottom of the download page. To get new signups just create an optin form and plug it into every webpage you have. That's it ... you should be rolling along fat dumb and happy!!!! ![]() |
