Hi Warriors,

What do you think about having content of your website stolen? I have TYNT installed on my site and it records whenever content is copied from my site. On average I have about 300 copies of text stolen from my site every month...

Do you think this is something to worry about?

To find where your stuff is being published, load the reportedly stolen snippets into Copyscape.

To scrub the stolen materials off the Net,follow the steps below.

Fire off a DMCA takedown notice to the HOSTS of those sites.

Your site might get clobbered hard in rankings.

Also, depending on the content stolen, your brand might get compromised. Scrapers slap on brand mentions on spam pages.

This can have a negative effect on the brand you worked so hard to build.

I'd report it to the hosts, immediately. I realize you probably have other better things to do with your time, but this is actually quite important, IMO, like icoachu said, it can affect you in a negative way.
If you don't have the time to deal with this problem yourself, hire someone and make it their job to keep reporting these guys.

This type of copying cannot be controlled entirely. If anyone copies too much of content from your website, send them DMCA take down notice.

Although you cant do for everyone find who copies massively.

its impossible to stop it properly....but u can do the above mentioned things to reduce it...otherwise leave it....it will not effect so much to your site...

Unfortunately, it doesn't tell me where this copied content is going to... it is supposed to include and automaic link back to the page where it was copied from but 99% of the people who steal the content just delete that link... however when I search for my content duplicates accross the web, i find incredibly spammy sites are the ones that are doing it... I haven't bothered reporting them, as doingt that would require a full-time job.. its bloody madness how much content is being stolen isn't it? it is just insane

Hang on...perhaps I'm misunderstanding how this tool works.

So does it consider copying as in literally selecting and copying text from a page? Or does it consider it copying when someone adds it to a bookmarking sites, for example?

Also, if you are putting up original content and it is indexed by Google then your site is the authority for that content in their eyes so anyone else duplicating the same text isn't going to benefit whatsoever.

When are we going to get off this "duplicate penalty" myth. The original author will NOT get penalised for someone else replicating their content. The duplicator will get penalised for it.

Nobody in this thread is talking about duplicate content at all, or being penalized by google. What people are talking about is there hard work being stolen.

He will not be penalized by Google for having his content stolen. That is a huge misconception.

    Hi,

I know I'm a different bird, but I don't worry about stolen content because I live in abundance. Meaning, if somebody appears to take from me, or to steal my stuff, but I can always generate more creative ideas, and no lack or shortage exists, can't affect me, at all. I have had my stuff taken so many times, that I finally figured that it wasn't taken....it's flattering, really, and it's what helps me create so much, without worrying or stressing, so I can move forward instead of suffering through anxiety, concerning the stuff I have no control over.
