How much should I spend for a 4 letter dot Com domain?

Dear Warriors, how much do you think I should spend for a 4 letter dot Com domain? Someone I know has a few 4 letter domains. Nothing great.. just like pvqf or cwnk .. etc ( just giving you an idea) .. all are letters and no numbers.More than 10 years old. Should I buy them?

Appreciate your help.

That depends what you want to use them for.

Not much detail in your post.

Do you want to resell them? Then make sure you don't over pay. Nothing worse than paying $1,000 for a domain you can't get $900 for...

IMHO Unless you have a "Picture Vector Quality Factory" or a "Civil War Network Knowledge" website, I don't see the point to have some unspeakable domain name.

Unless you are using it for anchor domain and get some subdomain on it like makemoney.pcqf.com -- oh... right...

    Why would you want them?

If it is because you have a brilliant idea for using them, then it is not uncommon for those to sell for mid-high $xx.

If you are looking to invest in them and hoping to resell them for more, it is unlikely that they will be anything more than a burden to you. I wouldn't bother. Selling domains is a job.

The only exception is if they are great abbreviations or acronyms. But those aren't so easy to find these days, and from your description it doesn't sound like this is the case anyway.

Thank you guys for early replies. Sorry I forgot to mention my intention. No, I am not going to make websites on them. I will just sell them.

Just on Godaddy Auctions alone, there are multiple pages (maybe 9) with 25 domains per page, all four letter dot coms (LLLL). There are a lot listed for ridiculous prices that will never sell, but there are some that say "make offer" and they're starting for $20. My guess is, you could pick up a bunch for under $100 each.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to say. It depends on the configuration of those letters: if they spell anything meaningful (I'm guessing not), if they abbreviate anything useful, indeed, if they even look or sound good when spoken. I've seen them go anywhere from 2 figures to 5. To give you an idea, I just Googled this for you: http://www.gotw.com/example-domain-name-prices-2014.htm

You just answered your own question. If you don't see any value in the domains, why would anyone else?
