Branding on social media

Hi all,

The below is an issue I couldn't find an answer to on this forum. I would appreciate if you experts could advise.

I have a good business name with .com available. Problem is, on some social sites, the name is already taken. I was wondering if from a branding perspective it is harmful if I add the word Official or something like this to the brand name on the social media sites? SEO-wise, thanks to cross-linking, this probably is not an issue (correct me if I am wrong), but I was wondering if it harms the brand or casues any issues at all?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Is the brand a huge one, like i mean apple, microsoft, et. I mean is the brand is a huge one?

If so they may be after you. If not and if you have something like cudarz media or something like that you can go ahead with adding any word like official. No need to worry about it.

It's a new and unique name, not copying anything that exists. I am just a bit worried if these accounts will be connected properly. Like the website URL will be Example Domain but on Twitter the name will be Example Official. Also, I'm not sure how will customers interpret it...will they understand this is the same brand?

The existing accounts on social sites are dormant or related to people, not businesses, none of them is a big deal.

Put the domain name and brand into the background image on twitter, that way its unmistakably your site and brand.
