Is this traffic fake?

Hi,

My niche is very narrow and very specific and to tell you the truth I somehow don't believe in huge earnings from this niche.

I ordered targeted traffic from an SEO expert.

The "campaign" started and in my analytics software I can see that my site is visited from a search engine exactly for the keyword I wanted to be used as a target keyword.

Do you think this traffic is fake?

I am asking because I don't believe that just after the start of the campaign there are so many people (205 within an hour) searching this very specific keyword.

What do you, as IM experts, think about it?

You have to ask after ordering "traffic"?

It really depends on what your definition of fake is. The person you hired is probably using a bot program and telling it to visit you from hundreds of different computers so it appears like genuine traffic.

So if your only goal was sales, then yes...consider the traffic fake. It's only the person you hired and his routing programs visiting you. If you're doing it for any kind of traffic to make the search engines acknowledge your existence, then the traffic is real and it offers real value. Not monetary value, of course, but a possible increase in natural rankings.

The real question should be, "Did you waste your money?" Only you can answer that one though.

Thank you, that's a very good explanation. As I am quite new to SEO matters, I think I didn't understand the idea of "paid traffic" before. Now I know.
    Thanks again.

No problem at all. If you only paid a few dollars then it will actually benefit you in some ways, so don't feel like you made a bad move. In the future though, you'll want to find out exactly where the traffic is coming from before you pay out anything else.
