I think that by doing this without a website is a bad idea. A website will give you so much more opportunity to review/promote products and build your credibility. Also not sure I understand how you're going to have people sign-up to your list, are you going to be creating a custom FB tab and send traffic there?

Even once they get onto your list, what kind of content are you going to send them without a site? You can't just be sending affiliate links or linking to other people's articles. You have to have your own content and value.

Not to mention your putting all your eggs in one basket. What happens if Facebook shuts down your account? Well, then your done for...

^ I agree with the above, why not build a website as well? You'll need credibility if you want to build a list like this.

If, for some reason, you're really dead set against building your own site, you could build your own FB group and post content there, and share that on your FB page. It should be valuable content, though, not just an optin. On your FB page, you can add an App that can open to your optin page, too.
That said, I think... like all the others here... that creating a blog or other website and giving good, authoritative info on it, is the best way to go.

Hi Nick, I think this is an excellent idea. Despite what others may say, you don't need to build a website to make money online. In fact, with nothing more than a single landing page, you can earn a significant amount of money online.

    However...

You must portray some kind of value to your list (not just sending them links to products you like). For example, you can write extremely in-depth reviews on tech-products. That's not only valuable for the reader but it's also profitable (you can include an affiliate link to the product in your email).

If you do decide to build a website, which may not be a bad idea considering that tech-review sites are very popular, you should still collect emails. Email marketing is still the best method for making money online today.

Quite frankly if you have your own site and your own autoresponder, you really don't need to use Facebook. Do all your "relationship building" and "bonding" via your email newsletter. You can send them free gifts, tell them about yourself and your dog/family/etc... and make it entertaining. People will start replying to your emails as if you wrote it to them specifically.

You could use FB in combination with for example Leadpages. Then you don't need a website of your own
