Hi all

I have decided on my host provider.

What happens if the company you purchase your domain name through stops trading? Would you be able to renew your web name through another company?

Yes, you can switch registrars anytime you want, that's not a problem.

Not decided on a registrar, given they just sell a domain I dont see there is much of a difference between them.

They most probably will put a system to continue having your domain. But it is better to go with reliable companies like Hostgator and Namecheap which I am using.

This is why you should only buy a domain from an accredited registrar, and never a mere host.

You can lose your domain.

Namecheap is suggested.
Hostgator is NOT a registrar, and they have a horrible record of losing customer domains.

Anecdotally, I have registered hundreds of domains through GoDaddy and have never had a single issue.

I prefer Godaddy, too. Especially when it comes to domain flipping: trust + low cost = a happy Tom.
