New Facebook Video Platform

I see that facebook changed up with their videos where you can upload right to your facebook fan page and when you watch a video it gives you related videos just like youtube.

I have been uploading my videos to youtube but think it may be better to post them to fb instead. Wondering has anyone else lately been testing this?

Also want to know if I upload a video to YouTube and then to Facebook the same video what happens is there still a such thing as duplicate content these days?

I personally think you're on to something. I don't have direct answers to your questions but in the past couple of weeks, I have seen a sale page for a product and they were talking about how FB has quietly built up video viewership that is comparable to Youtube in terms of views and traffic.

Also, I read a year or two ago that it is always a good idea to post your videos on YT and FB - that FB basically ring fences their content from search results so it is not duplicate. That's what I've always done - and you get the added benefit of your videos autoplaying in people's news feeds on FB as they scroll.

Admittedly, I've never known of a duplicate content penalty for videos anyway if they are all yours and you post them in several video sharing sites.

thanks for responding colorado... I have just been working on my channel with youtube but may switch and go all Facebook. The yt channel equivalent would be facebook fan page with uploaded videos and engagement through timeline... I think its more viral and easier to share if all housed on one site.

I would think twice about putting all your eggs in Facebooks basket Andre.

Facebook may be coming on strong with views from people scrolling through their wall, but you're not going to hit the target as strongly as you will by uploading to Youtube, where the search results are delivered by Google also.

Google will deliver targeted search traffic, but Facebook will show their content to anyone that gets in its way (probably why their stats are growing so fast).

If you're making video for a purpose and want to get them in front of targeted prospects, putting all of your eggs in Facebooks basket only, might be a fatal mistake.

I would suggest uploading to both and evaluating the results would be a great place to start.

BTW: Brendon Burchard recently said that when targeting people on Facebook with video, he doesn't use Youtube. I think I remember him using Instagram and embedding it in his Facebook posts, which was getting him more views than an embed Youtube video. Probably because it is owned by Facebook.

Would be great to hear back from you about how you go with this.

There has NEVER been a duplicate content penalty with regard to using the same content on multiple sites (i.e. YouTube.com & Facebook.com & yoursite.com). That penalty only relates to the same content, posted multiple times on the same site.

    Given that...
wouldn't it make a lot sense to publish your videos on BOTH sites?

They are both free advertising channels for you.
