Low on $$$? An Honest Way to Get a Premium Theme for Free

I'm hoping this may be of use to some of our newer members; or anyone, really, who's just low on cash. Whenever I'm logged into ThemeForest.net, I check out the free offers. Each month, they update with a free theme and various other, similarly free products: plugins, graphics, videos, etc. I've yet to grab a freebie myself, but I'd suggest taking a look. The current theme, usually $45, looks very nice indeed.

All the best,

Tom

Thanks! I had no idea Themeforest had this section, will be checking it each month.

Don't really need this theme but I cannot see any harm in downloading it for future use. Just saw that there's a lot of other nice freebies on there as well.

Link if anyone has trouble finding the page: http://themeforest.net/collections/4...s-of-the-month

All of the Envato marketplaces have this section.

I probably shouldn't share this but what the heck...I'm going to anyway. Here's how to get ANYTHING online for free from any company, regardless of how big or small they are.

    1) Send them an email identifying yourself as a journalist. Say you're writing an article for <niche> and you'd like to feature them as a solution in the article. Then ask for whatever you want for free and specify what kinds of traffic the site gets where the article will be posted.

    2) Send the email to the PR/media department if it's a big company, or just to the general contact email if it's a small one.

    3) If you're not a journalist, then just hire a solid writer or Freelancer that has media connections. If your site gets enough traffic and it's in the company's niche, just posting to your site may be okay. If not though, then have it posted on an authority or media site.

I can honestly say that I have not purchased a theme, software title or anything internet related for 15+ years...I always go this route instead. And if the article does get good traffic and the company sees a return from it, then they'll usually put you on the "beta testing" list for journalists so they can continue to get the free traffic and a quality backlink with each new product launch.

    I hope that helps.
