List of some of the top mentors online (If you are looking for a good mentor)

There are a lot of threads here in the forum from people who are BRAND new. Almost all of them are asking if any of us know of any good mentors who teach how to make money online.

So I decided to start this list myself. Feel free to add more.

I am not going to add their websites here but only their name and business name and what they specialize in.

Here we go:

Terry Dean (Effective email marketing)
Daegan Smith (Internet network marketing education)
VIc Strizheus (Traffic generation guru)
Ewen Chia (How to become a super affiliate: He has a physical book on Amazon.com)

I know that there are LOTS more but these are, in my view, are at the best mentors online. They pretty much cover all the basics and advance stuff of affiliate marketing online.

I always liked Eric Louviere. It has some really affordable top notch courses and does a lot of mentoring as well.

How truly Guru are these Gurus?

The problem I see with a lot of these Gurus is that they CANNOT repeat what they did. It is IMPOSSIBLE because Google put the hammer down on some these cheeseballs, and they NEVER were Gurus to begin with. They were just dudes who EXPLOITED loop holes.

Take one example, Pat Flynn. I make no judgements about him as a person - I'm sure he is a pleasant and fine individual. But let's look at how he got where he is today. It was, in no small part, done with polluting the Internet with CRAP and spun articles, his Link Wheels. Incidentally, that is why I do not mind being critical of him - because he was an article spinner pusher. He encouraged people to pollute the Net with sh!t, all so he could fill up his pockets with money. That lacks integrity, a necessary component for a Guru.

Guys like him gave a lot of this stuff a bad name, for their rise to glory and Guruness wasn't TRUE Guruness - it was being first in line to implement cheeseball tactics and try to game Google. Take away his name recognition and tell Pat to go start a website today about making money and watch him NOT be able to get that site anywhere near page one on the SERPS.

He cannot repeat what he did, for how he got where he is was slightly surreptitious and no longer tolerated by Goolge.

I'm anti-Guru, for I feel that word to be thrown around too much and to have lost its meaning ...

One man alone can be pretty dumb sometimes, but for real bona fide stupidity, there ain't nothing can beat teamwork.

I definitely agree with Terry Dean and Ewen Chia. The other 2 guys i haven't heard of. Ali Brown is great for female marketers, and i love the sales copy that Jeff Paul creates (copywriting).

It's been my experience that the very best IM assistance and help I have ever received has come from successful marketers that don't do any kind of paid coaching or mentoring.

This is an interesting point. I guess that I was thinking that back when I was with a company that had weight loss products...if they were given it for free...they would not use it and never loose weight. But when they paid for it...they would!! Two schools of thought!

I completely agree. Almost 100% of my knowledge came from working with others more talented than me and researching on my own to make up the difference.

I would like to nominate the P. James Holland character. He is super upbeat, kind of quirky but always has a positive attitude.

And .... I don't think he would mind me saying this... but his has a smoking hot wife! Hubba hubba!

    3 cheers for James!

List of TOP MENTORS on how to make money ONLINE?

This is relative because every body's situation is different.

There are for beginners, intermediate and advanced.

In this case anybody can be a top mentor in their own area of specialization.

In fact anyone of us can be a mentor to each other because no one can actually know everything although some may know a lot more than others.

Here's a lil' point to emphasize what someone above said.

Not one industry mover/shaker that I know will ever a) have time to truly coach you, as they are running a big ship that does big numbers b) won't want your money as it's peanuts and you can't buy my time/replace my daily income, not even close. If I coach you, or spend time with you, or enlighten you, or give you a blueprint/hack/awesome piece of advice, it's because I like you, you showed empathy, a longing to truly learn not just earn, and because I want to give back to the new gen/next wave of successes.

If you can, find someone that you want to model after and TELL THEM YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T HIRE THEM, but offer them some type of incentive or even just plea for a bit of their time to simply shadow them. Tell them you notice how successful in life they are and you want to be their understudy, offer free work, nuthug, don't let go.

Most ppl that have 'made it', would never dream of charging you for enlightenment (well, I'm sure some would, but I'm talking about those that are humble and hit big), we thrive off of seeing young/new comers finally catch a break. I probably coach 5-10 ppl a week in inadvertent small ways for free (well for karma/makes me feel good/not for money), ppl close to me in life that see where I sit, want it too, but know they can't just buy my knowledge as that's not even half the battle. A mentor should teach you a lot about life in general not just online biz or some obscure niche or WSO trick.

In closing: Fuk a guru or anyone that says they can teach you how to be successful for a fee. Getting curriculum to help, and a TEACHER to guide is one thing, but I feel sorry for ppl actually investing big money to be taught by mediocre success stories that rely on guru/coaching money now.

Be careful who you learn from, you're best off learning on your own albeit it will take longer/more fails but that builds character and true knowledge.

    .02.

Exactly, it's only the failures that are trying to sell the dream.
The real experts haven't got the time to play around in forums
hoping someone is going to click the coaching link in their sig files.

        Steve,

My mentor, who I met here in the forum, did not ask for a start up fee. Not even for a DIME.

All he asked his students is to go through his 3 phrase training.

The only benefits he got were:

You had to join him in a FREE to join 2 tier affiliate programs. ( This would get him some commissions off our efforts).

He really wanted to help and see people succeed because he was doing really well himself. (I really learned a lot from him)

        I don't agree with you.

I met my mentor here on the forum. He was offering help. At the time he was earning over $1,000 per day PROFIT and he was a very well known internet marketer. This was back in 2006.

Yes, we all know who he is.
And we know he made his money exploiting affiliates in this forum.
You don't see him posting in the forum.
He doesn't need too, there are still those doing that for him.

^ At the end of the day though, he makes his money coaching/chopping intel, and he had incentive having people take part for free or otherwise.

If this was 2006, and he's awesome, is he still around today? Are you a bonafide success 9 years later? Half of coaching is proof - if some of his free students ended up making some bank just due to averages and probability, he could take (some of) the credit, to monetize on again.

Wonder how much credit coaches take for failures, better yet wonder what the ratio of failures to successes is at with 99% of these coaching for money guys... "It's not their fault, ppl are lazy, results may vary, the guru is always right"... People with big biz don't post on wafo for sig clicks to self entitled guru'ism products to sell/promote, unless that is their bread & butter.

Get a mentor that is not in the MMO niche, just a successful business owner that monetizes online, and you'll have a much different experience. This isn't to shit on you or your thinking, actually seeing Toronto in your stats makes me wanna root for you - I'm here too - just don't go thinking these guys have nothing but your best interest at heart and have made millions only to now wanna scrape forums for new students 247..

    Good luck with your mentor/journey.

Some wannabee guru's I would NOT recommend: Joel Broughton, Aaron Parkinson, Jane Mark, Paul Birdsall, Russell Brunson, George Montague Brown.

I don't believe in following gurus as they are usually just on the lookout for themselves. I believe in following concepts discovered through my own trial and error. My 2 cents.
