Success: Just Made My First Affiliate Sale EVER

Hello guys,

I just got an email from an affiliate, and to my surprise, it was a notification of a sale. It was really a surprise because I almost gave up on a simple project I created a couple of weeks ago, I didn't even drive traffic to the website!

The commission was $9.46 but it feels like so much more because it's the first affiliate sale I ever made online.

It's not a lot, but it's a start, and it's motivation to continue building my list. Can you guess how many "Hops" were needed for one sale?

100?

50?

20?

10?

I know I probably just got lucky, but there was a grand total of TWO hops through my affiliate link, one resulted in a sale, that's a 50% conversion rate.

So for those of you who are new to this, I want to tell you that it works, and it's possible to make money online. Just focus, build a list, and provide value. Your first sale is just around the corner!

Congrats. Keep it up. I remember getting my first sale on ClickBank. It felt awesome. Rinse and repeat. See if you can get some more sales using the same formula.

    Best Wishes!

Honestly, I don't know what I did to get those two visitors, they might have came through this forum. I remember sharing my website on a different forum and everyone said the idea was stupid and would never make money, so I stopped working on it, and then after a few days make a sale. It feels great. Now it's time to work on the next sale. I think I just got really lucky - but maybe not.

Is your affiliate cornered around some specific niche ?

        Nice Timothy !!

I remember my first sale was actually an Adsense Click for $1.25 . Boy, I was stoked the whole day. I remember right after I found out I went for a jog and talk about Runnner's high

It's in the make money online niche, not the best of niches at the moment, but it can work. I practically gave up on the website. I just bought some cheap traffic from Fiverr, see how that works, I'll invest in solo ads when I have a bit more cash. Oh and guys, the website is only two weeks old.

Even more reason to set up tracking software. TRACK EVERYTHING!!! Now you can't even scale up, because you don't know where it came from

Congratulations! The first one is always the best no matter how much it is. It's proof for you that you can make money online.

Making a sale just after 2 hits isn't hard or luck. Marketing is 'mostly' a mental game. For some people things come their way easier than others.

I made my first sale online back in 2006 for $500 that put $50 in my pocket. And it only took 3 clicks from Bing (Microsoft Ad Center) back then.

What ever you did, keep doing it.

This is great man, the best part is you almost gave up after 2 weeks... that's way too early to call it quits. Keep building this offer and gain some skills along the way.

Luck would be getting an email for a sale when you never built a website in the first place. You put together the site and the offer and sure enough you made money, it was earned.

    Full steam ahead!!

I get that people want to be positive, but really?

      One sale?
      One?
      For $9.46?

I'm not saying it's not a good thing, but (1) he's calling it "success" and (2) he even admits that he "probably just got lucky".

Is it really the case that there are so few people on the WF who have even made a single sale that we're so excited for him making $10 in (gross) earnings?

And what's most disturbing about this post is that after making his $10, he now apparently has the authority to state: "So for those of you who are new to this, I want to tell you that it works, and it's possible to make money online. Just focus, build a list, and provide value."

Sorry, but one sale -- whether for $10 or $10,000 -- doesn't mean a thing at all. And the problem is that if we evaluate our success by that one sale, we might be incline to make mistakes over and over again when really the only reason we made that sale was because we were lucky.

To be honest, I don't remember my first sale -- and so much the better. But I do remember the day I quit my job because I could make more from my business than I could as a web developer. And even then, I wouldn't call it success -- it's just one more step on a very long path.

It's a success for me, considering the website is less than two weeks old and I didn't drive traffic to it. Yeah, I'm happy about it. Obviously I don't think the website is in a perfect state, still need to make a lot of changes. I'll let you guys know when I make a second sale. :-)

A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step!! And yes it can be a huge thing to have your first sale because it says yes I really can make money online. I remember seeing a video from 2 internet guru's that said even though they had a million dollar day, the thing they remember the most and was most excited about was there very first sale....

And it's understandable why because it is all the motivation in the world to know that it really does work. It's not just hype or all scams it really is possible to make money online. Then you just keep learning and figuring out how to do it better next time and how to start scaling things up.

Even though I didn't get rich from making about $1,500 in a year on fiverr it was still a great feeling knowing that making money online really does work and it is possible to scale things up. So I say congrats and for him to use that feeling to his advantage and start making a lot more....

Waaaaay years ago. I remember my first affiliate commission. It was on CJ.com. I set up a 2-page website targeting a specific keyword... I almost forgot that I created the website. But a couple of months later reading an affiliate marketing article, I remembered that I have a website like that. I logged in -- walla! $13.

    Congratulations on yours!

Congratulations for you first sale. I still remember my first sale few months ago, it was $25. Rinse and repeat the same formula until it works, then move to another formula. Don't ever try to apply more than 2 formula the same time because you will get confused and soon enough lost.

I am sorry to say the opening post makes my belly churn. The opening poster has been involved with IM for good 5 years and posts some stuff about making his first sale. And people congratulate him. Honestly what the? Yeah he might have been doing other stuff in IM for all this time that made him money and now (well 6 months+ ago this was posted) got involved in affiliate stuff and made his first sale. All I can say is come on you people. If you've been involved with something like this for any length of time then getting some sale of some kind is not exactly rocket science. I can understand if someone started IM last month and got their 1st sale today or something but this opening poster posting this as some kind of motivation for others is a joke.

It's always exciting when you nail your first customer, and it's always exciting to hear about it.

I recently got my first information product (a video course) completed and now I'm selling on Amazon.

The sales are coming in spurts, but I am super excited because people are actually buying and benefiting from something I created!

So, congrats man. You've got the bug, so put what you've learned to work and go out and make some more sales!
