Need Help Understanding the Process... (Affiliate Product + FB Ads)

Hi everyone,

I am in need of a little help to understand the process of selling an affiliate product using FB ads since I have never done it before.

I am going to set up an example and hopefully I will be able to get some help.
(This isn't my plan, just a real life example I have come up with)

- Find a product I want to promote on JVZoo; ie Headlinr which is doing well at the moment.

- Receive permission to promote it after explaining I am going to use FB ads for traffic.

....... then I get stuck.

- When I create the FB ad, do I use my affiliate link to the product as the destination URL?

- If not, do I send them to a landing page I created first? (and do I put an opt-in form for a list?)
- Should this landing page be long like the sales page, or a simple box with something like "Discover How to Create Headlines any Newspaper would Envy"

My query here is, why would I send them to an interim landing page that I have created, when the affiliate product itself has a well converting landing/sales page?
Aside from the obvious benefit of getting their email address, I would be worried that having an interim landing page will put people off?

Hopefully you can see my confusion!
Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Alice

The way I would do it is I would create a Facebook fan page that talks about the problems the JVZoo product you are promoting addresses.

You have to understand that you are promoting a solution.

A solution involves human issues and human problems.

If you promote a Facebook[/B] fan page instead of a direct affiliate link or an opt in page, you would get more followers.

Also, you have to remember that if you just drop an affiliate link through Facebook ads, your conversion rates might be quite low.

Why? You have not adequately walked people through the typical buying cycle.

The buying cycle has many different stages.

People first have to know that you know what you are talking about.

Second, they have to like you and once they liked you, you have to give them enough information to trust you.

    That is how it works.

The bottom line is people will not buy from you if they do not trust you.

Unfortunately, just dropping affiliate link right into a Google or Facebook campaign is not going to cut it.

There is not enough sales seduction so to speak.

You have to use content updates and go through the trust building process to gain conversions.

Is this a hassle? It can be.

    Does this take time? Absolutely.

Does it produce better results than the typical marketing techniques on Facebook? Yes.

Bull's Eye! I could say this again. Totally supported and agreed.

    To answer the @TS question.

Direct linking an affiliate offer to your Facebook Ads will get your account banned. You might get away with that at first and I'm sure a lot of people are doing that right now but facebook will eventually caught you and ban your account.

Just to be safe it is best to create a high converting landing page first and collect the email first so you can follow up and send a related offers in the future.

If you've done a great job cultivating the relationship with your subscribers, you'll be able to get repeat buyers and will be able to sell a higher priced offer.

Having a Facebook Page about your niche give you an advantage.

One is that you build a tribe of follower.

When you post (read advertise) something in your page.

It will show up in the timeline of those who like/follow your page (FB do not charge you for this).

In order for your post to show frequently in their timeline they need to follow you and engage with your post.

So, post a lot of engaging material in your fb page, Quiz, Meme, Funny Video are known to get high engagement.

Your FB Ads, should be promoting your FB page.

FB like if your FB Ads keep user in FB.

There's a few ways to do it, as mentioned in this thread.

I've been an affiliate marketer, utilizing fb ads for quite a few years. I've had the best results by far, by sending the traffic to a presale/landing page.

The presale should not just be a basic site with an opt in. It should outline the details of the product, highlight the benefits, and get the prospect interested in what you're promoting.

You'll hear a lot of people say you should have an opt in box, and try to push the offer through email remarketing - While you can certainly do it this way, it's not what I would suggest if you're looking for quick results and quicker evaluation of your landing page.

You will see less conversions if you have an opt in box on your presale page. Most people don't mention it, and I don't know if it's ignorance or just their business model to always be building a list (Nothing wrong with that) - But I haven't built a list while promoting affiliate offers in a long time. My own products are a different story.

@Path Theory - It's definitely the the business model that they've learned early in their IM career. Most people just rinse and repeat what they learned that is already working for them.

If it's working why change it at all

@lissylou - landing page without a squeeze page might or might not work on a certain offer same with list building. So pick the method that you liked and stick with it then start testing some offers that will work with you chosen method. (don't switch half way)

then scale up once you found a profitable campaign. It will requires a lot of testing and tweaking to make it work so don't get discourage if you are losing money upfront.

You will need to test with both LP and without it, LP is to convince users to buy your product, for some reviews, pictures etc.. You can also collect emails with your own LP. Some products are easier to sell with LP some without. Depends on what are you selling. But your own LP can really boost your CR because on product page you will just find info about product while you can create convincing squeeze page.

I think Facebook doesn't allow affiliate links to be promoted through their ads, so you won't be able to follow your strategy anyway.

The important thing to keep in mind is you need to build trust with your potential buyers, otherwise why would they buy the product you'er promoting? So, either run an ad campaign to promote your webpage or your facebook fan page.
