I think the main thing to ask is how many "quality" content you post every week. So you can easily create 5 posts a day but if they don't add any value it's better to create 1 high quality post instead.

I think the key is consistency for your readers. What I do is post only around 3 times per week now and spend the other time talking with people and creating bridges (backlinks) at those places directing people back to my site as well as ranking in the serps!

as long as you have a very good user experience, a good weight and deep content, quality beats quantity..

I prove it myself, with a very good on page optimization (content), just posting 1 - 2 new contents per month is OK... with NO BACKLINKS at all...

That's weird... sort of.. but it works. Logically that's how google works, and if you wanna build some backlinks, you need to build it naturally.

    Hope it helps you guys

Google wants to see consistent updates, so the "amount" you post is really up to two things- you and your competition. If your main competition is posting a blog post once a month and it's decent quality, then you can get away with posting twice monthly. If they post two blogs a week, then you'll steadily fall behind them unless you're posting a lot more. Because every indexed page is another potential source for traffic, plus it allows you the opportunity to engage your return visitors.

As far as linking to your articles, it pays to link out to authority sites. It's the same as if you and I were talking on the phone; if I said, "You definitely have to do a, b, and c to make money in the stock market," you may or may not believe me. If I started that sentence with, "I just read the other day where Warren Buffet said..." Then you're a lot more likely to take my advice since it's coming from a true expert. Google works the exact same way; it wants to see you defer to experts on whatever you're talking about.

I personally try to blog every other day with something and get a big authority blog post at least twice a month. And like I've said in other threads, it doesn't matter what you blog about either...feel free to let your readers get to know you and what you're all about. For example, my latest post this week is about Brady and Deflategate...because it's a hot topic and something I'm interested in. As long as each post feels genuine and not some type of sales pitch, you will gain new followers in time and Google will continue to reward your efforts.

It depends on how what kind of traffic you get on your site, and what niche is your site. For a site highly depends on social media traffic, I post 3-5 per day. For search engine traffic, I post 3-5 per week.

If you are building an authority site, 2-3 posts per week would do with at least 1000 words per article.

In order to make it quality, it should really be an informative article.

For example, you can use "How To________" or the "The Top 10 _________________".

I think if your blogging if you can post fresh, quaility content everyday you have a real advantage over the crowd.

The problem is MOST people can't do it everyday with quality.

So your best bet is align the number of days with amount of quality content you can put out.

If you are only capable of putting out fresh, informative content once a week....then do it just once a week.

Iam more of the direction like Brent so aptly pointed out...
i.e once you get to a certain level (with funnels that are completed etc..etc..) then it becomes mainly about promotion
