It basically tells you the popularity of the product, meaning how many people earned a commission on it.

Let's say 10 affiliates sold your product, but 100 were trying, whereas 100 people out of 150 tried, but the gravity is higher because more copies were sold by more affiliates, even though your chances of success are better.

So, no, gravity doesn't automatically mean you're more likely to make sales.

Don't use CB Gravity, it has nothing to do with how much money you will make promoting CB products.

What the gravity in clickbank refers to is how many different affiliates have made a sale in the last 30 or 60 days. It tells you what is selling or what people are promoting and are getting sales with.

Thing to be aware of when just deciding on gravity is how much of that gravity is coming directly from email list. Searching through clickbanks thousands of products you can find some hidden gems. There are some really good products in their marketplace but the owner just doesn't know how to market and therefor will have a zero gravity score. Does not mean the product is no good.

You can't give away a diamond ring if you don't know how to market it correctly!

Gravity basically refers to the popularity of the product, or how many other affiliates are promoting it. A gravity of 100+ typically means HUGE competition. I personally don't put too much emphasis on gravity: if I feel confident that there's a market for the product, and I feel that it's profitable to promote, I'll promote it. I've earned hefty commissions from products with gravity scores of 15 to 20, which isn't that much.

But as a general rule of thumb, if there's a very low gravity, it's because the product simply doesn't convert well (hence why other affiliates are leaving it alone). If you're new to affiliate marketing, and are having difficulty deciding on a product to promote, strive for a gravity of 30-70. That's a "sweet" spot a lot of affiliate marketers.

Jurrie, you'd better start reading Alexa Smith's posts and learn about Clickbank if you want to do things the right way. In my opinion, anyway.

It basically tells you how many affiliates have made sales for a specified period of time. I've heard some say this period is 90 days while others have said 30. Anyway, it''s just good to know it's selling. You want to go for something that is selling but something that hasn't necessarily peaked and has too much competition. I'd say maybe a gravity of 20 or 30 but less than 100.

I almost never look at gravity anymore.

What is more accurate (me thinks) for what you what to know is popularity. Gravity just shows how many affiliates made a sale. a gravity of 50, for example, may look good, but what if there are 4000 affiliates promoting it. Then that could mean squat!

Popularity actually takes into account TOTAL sales. Whether they are made by the owners own traffic, affiliates, organic,Conversion rate, whether it is trending and on an upswing.... basically.. how truly POPULAR the product is.

Those are the only numbers that matter. How many affiliates got a sales has nothing to do with how much money YOU will actually make with the product.

That's also an illusion because what's popular on CB has nothing to do with what a person can sell or what traffic will buy. Those CB percentages are only what other affiliates are doing, it's not what traffic is doing over the entire internet.

Don't follow the herd (all the other CB affiliates).

Gravity in clickbank just give us an idea on how a product is being promoted by other affiliates. When the gravity is high, it means a lot of affiliates are promoting the product.

This can mean this product is hot selling, so if you take part and sell the product your self, you will be able to make sales because people are really buying that product.

You can use cbtrends.com in order to look for hot selling products in any niche/category. It is a great and helpful site.

Someone mentioned that low gravity typically means a low converting product page. Although the two are not equivalent I found this generally to be true myself. If you really like a niche and found a product you want to promote despite the low gravity, one thing you can do is to write your own sales page and direct link to the checkout.

There are other threads on here that teach you how to do that, it's a little more complicated than what I outlined here. You will be losing some conversions because the tracking cookie doesn't drop, meaning if they don't buy the product right away, you don't get credit for it. Also it might be against the Clickbank TOS.
