Using the forum effectively

Hello,

I see that there is thousands of viewers at any one time on Warrior Forum and I have posted topics and participated in other members threads in the Main Internet Marketing Discussion forum yet there is extremely low engagement. A lot of threads have 500+ views and no replies.

Am I looking in the wrong place? There should be a lot more engagement with 10,643 people apparently on the forum right now.

Could you advise me on how to use the forum more effectively?

Thanks.

Intelligent and experienced debate and knowledge sharing on a regular basis.

I'm not saying it never happens on the forum, just that something is not right as it happens so infrequently.

Its difficult to justify paying for the war room on the basis of the information shared in the free part of the forum.

You're basically saying, "people should x, y, z", but reality says differently, and unfortunately it's like you deciding you should be able to fly just because that's what you want to happen - the laws of the universe don't change.

If you're not getting the results you want, and ever want to succeed as a marketer, YOU need to change to cater to your customers, the world, and the way things work.

What kind of questions are you asking? That would be the first place to look if you're trying to isolate the problem.

It's a big ask for detailed answers to the questions that get asked over and over. 'How do I build a list?' 'How long does it take to get free traffic?' I see that sort of question getting full of value replies from patient and generous contributors. Occasionally there are golden answers to the most mundane newbie pleas for help. I find that quite heartening. There is value here. It takes some sifting.

That is very sound advice but I am not talking about the threads I have participated i, I'm looking at the forum as a whole and hundreds of well reasoned questions go unresolved every month when an experienced marketeer could solve momost in 2 minutes.

It seems like 99% of the forum are completely inexperienced with a website, a hope and a vague dream.

Where are the experienced posters who engage with others in threads?

Most are just tired of seeing the same questions asked over and over again, that could be answered by the poster themselves with a simple google or forum search. On any given day just scan the subject line on the first page and you will Not see well reasoned questions. What you will see are post pumping signature pimping questions.

  • A lot of threads have 500+ views and no replies.
Could it be that most of those views are from new people who have little knowledge to contribute, but are also simply looking for answers to the same question posed in the thread?

I've seen this statement: "I've been a long time lurker here" being mentioned allot lately by those who finally decide to post something.

There should be a lot more engagement with 10,643 people apparently on the forum right now.
    See above.

It seems like 99% of the forum are completely inexperienced with a website, a hope and a vague dream.
There, you answered your own question as to why there may be more questions than answers.

I'm looking at the forum as a whole and hundreds of well reasoned questions go unresolved every month when an experienced marketeer could solve most in 2 minutes.
This is because the questions asked lately, have been asked "hundreds" of times.
And the answers have been given, "hundreds" of times, by experienced marketers.

Where are the experienced posters who engage with others in threads?
Tired of answering the same old questions, and looking for new original questions to tackle.

Could you advise me on how to use the forum more effectively?
If you see a question that is of interest to you, but there is little engagement in that thread, simply copy and paste that same question into the forum search bar.

Be sure to use the bathroom and eat before you do, as you will have answers for days....

There are a lot of questions here that is being asked multiple times everyday and as someone who's been lurking on the forum for quite sometime now.

It''s sometimes tiring to answer all of them when in fact they could have answered that easily by using the search function.

It is disappointing on the part of the people who wants to help newbies but don't want to help themselves.

Once in a while that may be a true statement but I think more often it's someone who is new and wants to jumpstart their rep here by saying "I've been around but you didn't see me". When they start multiple threads with common/basic questions, you know the "lurking" part was a farce.

      "Using the forum effectively"

Your complaint seems to be people look at your threads and don't bother to answer.
I see reasons for this - some of the questions you've asked have been discussed to death (example: "should I join the war room" has pages of results if you search for it. )

Other questions are specific to you with no space for "opinions" or "debate" which is why some threads end up pages long.

You have 30 posts - and 13 of those are threads you started. Thus, most of your participation is focused on you and what you want. No rules against that - but it is a rather insular way to participate in a forum.

This is the ' me,me,me' attitude that is so prevalent anymore here at WF.

People still have not learned that to get a little bit you have to give a little bit.

Somehow this is lost on some of the poor souls here

I leave my computer logged in throughout the day whether I'm working my business, making phone calls, at lunch, or any number of other daily activities. I'll check back, on and off, during the day and evening when a higher priority item is not taking my time.

I try to help with a thoughtful answer when I can . . . but I've got to tell you, I get pretty frustrated with the same brainless questions coming up over and over again. Some people see this forum as a place where they are entitled to waste the time of people here without doing any observation, research, and work on their own.

Then there is the "what's the easiest, fastest, no work way to a quick million" type of posts that are ridiculous.

Then there are the product and software support questions that would never come up if people weren't too lazy to find the answers at the manufacturer's site.

In addition, how many times do experienced Warriors go to the effort to post thoughtful answers only to find the OP ignoring all the discussion and moving forward in spite of the warnings or suggestions otherwise.

Spending time trying to assist on the forum is a "labor of love" in many cases . . . yet those that are most successful in their own businesses ask for nothing in return. It's not too hard to figure out why "engagement" is not always what the newer members think it should be.

    Well, a couple things.
    • The majority of the users here are people looking to learn how to 'make money online'. They have none of that 'intelligent' conversation and debate to bring to the table. The next largest group are the semi-successful (not losing money/making $4000-$40,000/year). Not a large amount of experts in that 10,000 figure.
    • Major sectors of IM are CUTTHROAT. An expert comes on, hands out a tip, and 10,000 people read it, apply it, and s/he is screwed and just lost their income stream. Experts won't even reveal (generally) what verticals they operate in, nor their traffic sources, for if they do, everyone will pimp the same offer to the same traffic and s/he will no longer be able to profit on that campaign. Everyone spies on and copies/steals everyone else's work. Throwing all the 'goods' out on the WF just aids that process. It is just the reality of the situation.
    • See the above two points, especially the first one.

I don't think the first one is relevant to this thread. If you want people to engage with you on any forum - you need to be willing to engage with them.
If what you want is a level of participation where you only post when YOU have a very specific question you need answered...you are limiting your own results.

To me "cutthroat" indicates people fighting for position - here I see many waiting for wealth to fall on their heads. You could spit out every thing you know about working online - and it's likely no more than .02 percent reading your information would ever become your competition.

It appears that long term members are experiencing some of the same issues that I have in that many threads are being started to ask a question that has been answered in detail before so that it dilutes the quality of the forum for everybody.

Would it be better not to allow new posters to start threads until they have a minimum post count?

Possibly new members have to post in a new section for a while until they earn posting privileges for other parts of the forum?

Basically it seems like it would be better to have fewer threads but of a higher average standard. What would be effective ways to achieve this?

Problem with this method is then you'd have tons of posts like:

Google is a good search engine for sure.
It's better to do this thing the right way.
Sirs, I'm trying to understand why I cannot post a thread. I've tried many times over the last years and it won't work. Please help me to know this answer.
In other words, nonsensical trash in replies versus nonsensical trash as thread openers.

Possibly new members have to post in a new section for a while until they earn posting privileges for other parts of the forum?
Problem with this approach is what makes you think we'd want to answer the same question over and over and over and over and over and over in the newbie section? Might as well leave them in the main forum if it's the same questions being asked in the same way.

            Suggestion Forum

Not sure if anyone visits that link and is working on the suggestions, but hey,
            it exists.

Basically it seems like it would be better to have fewer threads but of a higher average standard. What would be effective ways to achieve this?
Maybe better for the members, but for the owners, not so sure.

Many warriors believe that this would be a good idea, but when it comes to a company that may sell this thing for a profit, it may be better to have thousands of newbies coming here asking the same questions...

You know, traffic / forum activity.

That's why some social media sites keep allot of fake accounts active, it helps to inflate the numbers.
