Build a membership/ecommerce site

What would you recommend for a relatively easy to maintain website that will function primarily as a membership site? Members will pay for content but paying for digital downloads should also be possible. Site will be updated frequently with new content. Wordpress? or no because of security concerns? HTML? Joomla? Drupal? Ideas? Membership software or plugin recommendations?

Thank you!

    I like aMember Pro.

You can use it with your WP theme, or as a standalone.

There is a small learning curve, but after that it is pretty simple and very powerful.

I don't have any experience with aMember Pro, though it looks good ontheir site. I have always used woocommerce on a wp platform. Very versatile and lots of documentation to learn, as well as plugins.

  • Some good suggestions already and if you wanted to strip it back to absolute basics, you could just use the password facility on Wordpress.

First create the content and give it a password and then use an autoresponder to send emails with the password for the appropriate page at the appropriate time.

Very basic, but a way to get started if you can't afford membership software or the idea of membership software scares you.

I hope this gives you something to think about and I wish you all the best for you online adventure
