I create graphic art, namely abstract background graphics. I'd like to know who I need to market this to. I realize that some of my customers may be website owners who need a header background, and there must be a few other uses such as flyers and things like that. Possibly, also graphic designers that are running on a tight schedule and need a background to work with right away.

But I'm sort of guessing at these things. Does anyone know who the most likely audience would be for background graphics?

You question suggests to me you haven't done your market research. It's one of the very most important exercises a business owner can start with. It's how you know what is in demand and where you can sell your products and services.

Here is one place to start: Vista Print

    Seriously.

Look at all the products they will print digitally for online customers. Don't you think some nice backgrounds would be enticing to people creating calendars, note cards, posters, thank you notes, stationary, product packaging, announcements, invitations, photo albums, signs, posters, banners, holiday cards, and on and on an on . . .

We're only scratching the surface here.
