When your niche is bad!

A not so good niche I am helping a client with is Children's Books.
She makes downloadable animated stories for youngsters. How on earth can you work with a niche so broad?

If she is working for kindle that it is easy, Amazon provides tools to publish animated stories for free.

The main object is the "Research" part. You will have to come up with few sub niches in the children stories categories and talk with the lady with a nice presentation about your research.

As mentioned above my first suggestion is to consider making the books into kindle books and then promote them. That would be my first approach.

Actually, based on what you wrote, your client's niche isn't "Children's Books", but "Creating Downloadable Stories for Youngsters". I assume also there are certain kinds of stories and types of children that she is targeting, whether it's fictional pictoral stories for toddlers or history books for middle schoolers. The point is on the face of it, there's nothing overly broad about her niche at all, though whether it's actually a "good niche" for her is going to largely depend on her own talents and her competition.
