Yes I would suggest you call PayPal as well. I have spoken to their customer service people in the past and found them to be very nice and helpful.

Anything out of the ordinary and they will freeze your account. Couple weeks ago i tried to access my account on my cellphone but it wasnt linked to my account. They froze my account and i had to end up calling them to get it straightened out.

I agree with salesgurus. Get hold of the customer support people over at PayPal.

      Doesn't make sense.

If you are "selling some stuff" why would you be transferring money?

No one can tell you for sure, but if it's an actual sale, I would just have the money sent through Paypal "goods". Suck it up and pay the fees. I've had over $5000 sent and received from my account multiple times. Never had an issue.

The only time I've had my account frozen, was when I swiped the same credit card through my reader 3 times in one day. So multiple transactions would probably flag it.

They once froze my account for one whole month because I bought just one $7 report and they needed to do an investigation - worst service ever.

You should read the terms & Condition of PAYPAL. You should not break the rules any time. Because you have to remember that you are using the PAYPAL. so you must obey the rules & regulations of the PAYPAL. If you make verify your PAYPAL ID, then you can use safely. Before making verify your ID, you should not use much transaction. Because anytime your account may banned & your balance may forfeiture. so before making this big amount of transaction, you can contact with the PAYPAL. Best of luck.

  • I don't believe so, however it's best to ask Paypal directly.

Contact their customer service, and/or check the FAQ's

Probably your friend is missing that will be charged for transfer. Better use bank transfer or let him pay you cash in hands.

If you transfer more than $1000 a day from one paypal to another than your account should be at risk, at first they will keep an eye on your account for further transactions and after some days they will freeze your account if anything happen against their TOS and should ask you about the transaction later (according to my experience).

Straight call to their customer service, they are pretty good about customer service and you can mail them about your future transactions. If they permit you thrn you can go ahead but 5k may be at risk.

Send them an email and ask for it ...

I think they will freeze the transaction for some time and ask for some verification from you and your friend and it will be fine ...

I had payments of around 2.7 K and they usually freeze the payment and ask the payee to verify that it is legit.

First, like most have said, call paypal. This is a marketing forum. Second, if it is your "Friend" Then make the deal in person or send a check via the mail.and leave paypal out of it.

        Something smells fishy to me.

Probably not. Are you doing it through eBay or some other reputable source? Then no. Even if not, their whole business is transferring money. They don't make an issue unless it looks REALLY suspicious.

If you sell some stuff to a friend, why you will transfer money to a friend. If you sell anything, the buyer will transfer money to your account. In this case you must verify your Paypal account to use this big amount transaction. Before verifying account, you can make small transaction. You can contact to the Paypal help desk to know more. Thanks

    Hey Xtraco

I had a similar problem with my Paypal account last year. However in that case I tried to send $5600.00 to my business partner in Toronto.

Paypal said I had to verify the details on my account, and my partners account and other security info because it was the first time sending a lot of money through Paypal.

There is a lot of fraud out there these days , so Paypal keeps their security extra tight!

Like most people have said already, it will be a good idea to call them up before you send out such a large amount of money. Because it will add a lot more stress (I had to wait 6 days just for the payment to clear) if they wont allow you to do it. Things may have changed now.

So definitely either call them or drop them an email.

Dealing with Paypal these days can be very tricky. They pretty much march to the beat of their own drum so its really hard to predict what they will do in situations like this

From my experience when sending money, if you send it via. the "friend" option and they suspect it is actually for paying for a service, they will freeze your account. This exact situation happened to me and I had to call them on the phone to have my account unlocked. Was kind of scary actually as I rely on Paypal so much in my day to day business affairs.

The best choice is contacting Paypal costumer service and ask them about your inquiry. They are so friendly and they will likely guide you awesomely.

Contact paypall as soon as you can!
I know they have had some legal problems with some customers. (Paypall pay compensation)
However they usually offer a good customer service.
