What is a good way to determine the pricing for a membership site? There are no other similar sites in the niche to compare to. I have a large list of potential customers, so I could survey them, but I am not sure what to ask. Asking 'how much would you pay for this' might not give me the best result. Does anyone know what works? |

It depends on the potential value you are offering. Softer topics like how to improve something are typically going to be a lower price. Harder topics like how to make money will go for a higher price. I have one that is $19.97 a month, one that is $37 a month, and a few that are $47 a month. I've belonged to some that are $97 a month and know there are some that are hundreds a month. |

Ok. Mine's a softer topic. Are the $37-$47 softer topics too?

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Global Giving Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. I have friends in Japan, none of whom -- fortunately -- were affected. But lots of people are still doing it tough. So, thank you on their behalf. | |

Price will be determine on the basis of your product value or one the usefulness of your service or information. If information is very much useful than it do not deserve to be low priced. You need to determine in this way.

I don't know if it will help any to tell you how much I pay to membership sites, but just in case I pay 47.00 to one and 30.00 to another. Both are tremendous sites and extremely useful. The $30 site, I got in on a "limited time only discount" The regular price being 47.00. Kknowing what is in it and how much I use it, I'd gladly pay the 47.00. I was on a waiting list to get in, so that might be something you want to consider doing. It made me want to get in more because I had to wait for an opening. You could get people to wait in line for your membership to open. If they really wanted in they'd pounce on your limited time only discount offer. |

The key seems to be throwing the magic seven in there. It really depends on the level of service you offer, the level of ongoing support and updates they receive. There is a lot of good advice above already but I would like to add that it is best to start of too low than too high. You don't want people already signed up complaining about you charging new people less. You could set even lower prices for the first 100 people to join to help promote it. |
