I've been trying (emphasize trying) to make money online for several months now. It isn't for lack of trying, I've spent several hundred that I really couldn't afford on programs promising to show me how. And I am sick to death of up-sales and hype. I've read numerous e-books promising the same. If 1 more person tells me to just do it or it doesn't take money to make money I'll scream. If you're making money online, you're paying for your internet connection aren't you? (By the way, the only reason I'm on line is my neighbor in the next apartment lets me tap into his wireless DSL.) If you own a domain, you paid for it didn't you? What about hosting? That cost too!!

I'm 46 with an extensive work history and have owned my own business in the past and I am not afraid to work. I spend hours sitting here trying to figure this out but I JUST DON"T GET IT!!!

If I could be totally honest here, I need money now. I'm unemployed and can't even get a job in a fast food joint, there are no jobs period. I'm not talking thousands here. I only need about 800 a month to keep me going and give me a little extra to actually do something online. I'm not interested in creating product, I'm more the affiliate type.

Here's the bottom line. I'm asking, no begging, pleading even for anyone to show how to make $800 between now and Sept 1st at the latest for next to nothing in cost. I say next to nothing because as I stated earlier, it will cost something. I have enough to cover Aug rent and pay my utilities for the month and that's it. Maybe with a hundred left over.

I ask that if you don't have anything positive to suggest that you say nothing at all. I'm not looking for a "just do it" comment or a "buck-up friend it'll get better". Or another so-called step by step course for $47. I have purchased several and none were as claimed, meaning step by step. Maybe I'm not as smart as I think I am but if others are doing it why can't I? I'm just very frustrated, down right angry even.

Truthfully I don't expect any responses to this.

Simple advice I would suggest is for you to attack a market where the buyers are absolutely desperate for the product you're offering. Desperation is key. It ensures your target is absolutely willing to buy. I have been selling to desperate buyers successfully for the past 4 months. I capitalize on a health issue I was plagued with, but found the cure to.

I got this idea from the e-book "desperate buyers only" (google it). Desperate buyers buy - while you have to work harder to convince customers who aren't desperate.

In my mind, this is where the EASY money is...

    Hi dlwebb510,

First and foremost, you have to change your defeatist attitude. It ain't gonna help.

Second, when posting here it's usually best to allow people to answer how they choose. Besides, some words of encouragement can work wonders.

Third, here is one way to do it for almost no cost, but to earn $800 it will take some serious work and effort.

    1. Do keyword research. You can use https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

    2. Set up blogs for each set of keywords at https://www.blogger.com/start

    3. Open an AdSense account (you can do it through Blogger). Optimize the blogs for AdSense (again, Blogger has that as an option).

    4. Sell affiliate products related to the same keywords.

    5. Update each blog frequently.

    6. Use ping-o-matic to update your feed.

    7. Submit individual post to social bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon. Being sure your URL is set up to contain the keywords from the title of each blog post. Submit the page with the individual post each time, not the whole updatd blog.

    8. Change your sig here in the Warrior Forum. Affiliate links are not allowed.

    9. Get going.

    10. Whether you want to hear it or not, things will get better.

    11. Do a search of the Warrior Forum. There have been several good posts within the past few days that offered practical plans for doing exactly what you need.

    All the best,

As always, Michael makes great posts. Take Michael's advice and put it to work. He is successful and one of the main Warriors in the forum who goes all out to help and point out what we should or shouldn't do. I make it a point to read the majority of his posts.

You could take a job as someone's Virtual Assistant if you need fast cash. It would be kind of like paid training.

Bottom line is even if you want to stick to affiliate marketing, you'll most likely need a hosting account, autoresponder, etc.

Anyway, have you looked into the Bum Marketing method? Lots of people here seem to have either got started with Travis' system or at least added it to what they were previously doing.

    This is your problem.

You need to deliver value. The most direct and rapid way to deliver value is to produce something.

I had more or less the same issue you did not long ago, and I resolved it by turning to freelance writing. If you're doing the affiliate marketing route, you have services you could offer, too: keyword research, minisite design, etc. These are things that a lot of people simply don't want to do, and they're willing to pay someone for it. One of the rules at the higher levels of this business is "never do something yourself when someone else will do it for $10 an hour."

A product I'm developing right now (not yet for sale - look for it this Autumn) begins with the step of selecting your niche. This isn't the niche you hear about all the time in connection with niche marketing, but the niche that YOU fill - what do you do? What value do you offer? What makes you special and distinct from everyone else? What is the unique selling proposition of YOUR BUSINESS?

Napoleon Hill makes it very clear in Think and Grow Rich that there are six steps to achieving your goals. First, fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire; you've done this. Second, determine exactly what you intend to give in return.

This is your missing step. What do you give in return? There is no such thing as something for nothing - what value are you providing?

If you haven't read Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, I can send you a free ebook version. Shoot me a PM.

You probably don't want to hear this, but you will fail with an attitude like that. I feel your frustration/anger and you seem in a very desperate place but seriously you have to change your mindset first otherwise everything you read or attempt will be doomed from the start. I don't mean this in some new age mumbo jumbo way either, it is common sense.

      1. Pull yourself together and believe in yourself and what you can achieve if you put in the effort.

      2. If affiliate marketing is your thing and you have no cash to invest, then just aim to create a new blogger blog or hubpage or squidoo lens based on specific products that get searches.

      3. On this new blog write a review of the product or a story on the product and shove in your affiliate links.

      4. Social bookmark your review, ping it, submit the RSS feed to directories. Write a few articles with backlinks to your new blogs and submit them to the article directories.

Some will hit it off and some won't but just keep going and improving on what you do.

Travis at Bum Marketing said find a starving crowd and feed it. Same thing as desperate buyer. I can't knock the step by step guide as I bought one and I followed it step by step and in 30 days I was making more than what you are asking for. I too lost my job, but now I don't have to look for one because I have one here on line. Other than the $49.00 I have spent very little, I did purchase a few domain names, but that is optional. You can get up and going and spend a little money later if you choose. Buying a guide is fine, but you have to use it to get anything out of it.

Yes, there is money to be made here. It took me a while to get to the point where I am seeing anything steady and I'm still learning but it can be done. There is absolutely a ton of Internet Marketing book and programs out there that have value but you can easily become overwhelmed with the "do this" and "do that" and "this made me thousands in just 8 hours"...think about this though...you are the type of person that IM are targeting, and quite successfully I may add! You are desperate to make money and you buy into the hype. Hard work and persistance WILL pay off for you. I have found that it has taken me a few months to build a site that starts doing anything consistantly. In the meantime, don't be dismayed or grow frustrated or desperate...this stuff will only wind up hurting you since it will come out in your sales copy.

There are a lot of people on this board who have posted some great ideas that DO work that don't cost any money...buying a domain through GoDaddy and setting it up for a redirect to your affiliate link for a product that desperate buyers want...send traffic to this domain (redirect affiliate link) through such sites as Yahoo Answers, Squidoo, Zimbo and articles that you post to free article directories...it's been done. But...it may be a few weeks before you start seeing the money in the form of a check from Clickbank...I'm just trying to be realistic here...I don't want to see you homeless waiting for the check. Hang in there and be persistant...there are a lot of good folks on here and a lot of good advice given...just hang in there

So, tell us.. what have you tried? What tactics have you used that didn't work? Show us one of you sites?

Unfortunately, trying to earn money online when you are as desperate as you are, is very hard. You will get frustrated and just jump from project to project when you don't see fast results. Making money online takes time unless you have money to spend on advertising. So, if i were you .. i would get a job. And If there are no jobs where you live.. then move.

Well, I assumed you wouldnt need to put a "ride on" lawnmover in a car (would it even fit?). I assumed you would "ride on" it.

Or the other option is to knock on peoples doors and offer to mow their lawn with their own lawnmower.

I know how depressing and hopeless being without an income and having people chase you for money can be. I know this first hand, my company is currently going through liquidation and the personal debt I carry out of it will take my property away from me if I am not careful.

The trick is to stay positive. To keep looking for the angles and to keep asking people for work.

When I was a 16 I made my money buying watches from a cash and carry in whitechapel and then hawking them out of a bag in south london.

Have you thought about approaching local companies and asking for commision only employment? This always worked well for me when I was first starting out, it was how I got into lead gen.

I have to agree with most of the above replies . . .

1st - incorporate a different attitude! It's okay to feel defeated, but then get up wipe yourself off, figure out why you lost and learn from it - then go at it again from a different angle.

2nd- Find 1 thing and stick with it - don't keep chasing all the other "shiny" programs. Below are my three golden rules for conquering a market once you have done your Market Research.

              * Time - give it time
              * Test - always see if something can make it better
              * Tweak - don't be afraid to change things up

Keep your head up and and find something that works for you! You started this journey for a reason, now follow through and see it to the end. There is no get rich quick program out there, but hard work and learning your craft will get you were you want to be . . . stay focused!

DiWebb, sorry for your situation. I know someone who recently went through this and it was tough.

It is SO easy for others to say "stay positive" - "be optimistic" - "get focused" etc., etc. I totally refrained from making these obvious statements to my friend. He had heard it 100 times before. Instead, I just helped him through it. In my primary work, I talk to people every day who are in danger of losing their homes. When people are down, they need real help. Because of the desperation of a lot of these situations, suggestions to "fix your attitude" fall on deaf ears. People often work through it even with the bad attitude. It can be done.

After all, lots of people who have a job go there every day with a bad attitude. We all know some of them. But they still work, get paid and some make a boatload of money with all their bad attitudes.

It's going to be tough using affiliate marketing to make good money quickly. If for no other reason, you have to wait for the check from Clickbank.

However, I purchased a guide back in March (via WSO) with a list of affiliate programs that will pay you via Pay Pal. That means you will get paid faster. I presume you have a Pay Pal account.

Right now, I cannot track back who was selling it. My hard drive died on that computer and I can no longer access files from March. Right now, retrieving that data is not high on my list.

But try a search in the WSO section for "Instant Paypal Commissions" or some version of this. If I recall, the list came in either a Word doc or Excel doc. It was not expensive. And no, I cannot attest to what was on the list, but there was good feedback on the thread about it. It listed a bunch of programs. Over 100 I think. Some will be duds, but you only need a few to make some money.

Once you get that and find a product or several products from the list, go back to what Michael Oksa suggested above. Get some article marketing out there immediately and do some other bum marketing and you should have some bucks in a few weeks. If you don't have Twitter, sign up and get some friends now so you'll be ready to tweet your posts and get traffic.

              I hope this was helpful.

For any little piece that you do not know how to do, just search for it on this forum or on Google. Lots of free info about IM.

              Wish you the best.

Mikes right - it's all about attitude. You DO NOT HAVE the affiliate option. The money won't be paid out to you in time for rent in 35 days.

Your going to have to do some really boring stuff to pay those bills - but hey you got time.

Write articles for folks, do data entry (I just paid someone 400 bucks to do just that and it took them 4 days of busting their tails). There is work out there, and you will make more than you would make at a fast food joint.

I read your post and can understand your frustration. I appreciate that you want to do some internet marketing but if the rent is due I would recommend you do what I did - sign up at a freelance site and bid on some work - you can get $5 to $10 a page for articles; more for ebooks and other forms of writing. There are a lot of sites available where you can sign up - if you are really broke you could try and crack the market at Getafreelancer.com - the pay there is not very good, but you write well in your post and that will count for a lot there. Itis free to sign up for. I always preferred Elance.com my self, but you would need an individual membership to do you any good and that is $9.95 a month.

That said I once did a challenge for a group of people who I was helping to make money online as a freelance writer - I signed up with Elance with a new profile and won the first three jobs out of four that I bid on. The first project was awarded to me less than 24 hours after I bid on it (I searched on elance for jobs closing within two days because I wanted a quick result.) The other two jobs were awarded to me within the week and I had them all finished within 2 weeks - more than $750 worth. The keys to success were providing good writing samples - really paying attention to clients needs and answering them directly in the proposal - being competitive with my pricing (no I was not the cheapest - I gave the best value) and following through in the PMB with clients so they were always kept up to date with the progress of their order.

It doesn't have to be forever, but doing this will get the rent paid if you put enough time into it. I know the other replies have touched on your attitude - understandable i know, but you do need to be positive. I will let you in on another little secret - in the past when I have had to ghostwrite to pay the rent I honestly sat down at my computer - spoke out loud to my monitor (when it was on of course ) and said "right, I am going to make some money today" and then I went online with that attitude and did it.

I believe you can - others here believe you can - you have too and then you will be right.

    All the very best

Don't know what your skill set is but I make a lot of money flipping websites. If you can build a great looking site, you can sell it. You need a great looking theme, not just a cheapo or free crappy looking theme, you need listing fees for Flippa or Warrior Forum, you need the skill to build a site that will sell and write the sales/auction letter.

You could write your own ebook on something that people need knowledge about and you have something to offer in the way of knowledge and sell it. Skill set needed: writing ebook and sales letter.

You're begging and pleading for someone to show you how and yet you reject creating your own product or creating anything really. You just want to throw out some affiliate ads and make bank.... good luck with that. I'd say the majority of people who go into IM as an affiliate .... fail. Many successful affiliate marketers know what will sell, have a good Adwords budget and campaign going and rake in big bucks. Some do it without Adwords, but most do not make a dime. Just read the forums of all of them saying ... I've been doing this for a year and haven't made more than $10. You can't count on it to make a living unless you know what you are doing and there's no ebook out there that tells you step by step what to do and how to do it.

Problem is: making money on the Internet is very rarely instant cash, unless you already have a successful blueprint in place. It most likely won't meet your bills until you get a plan in action.

One thing I learned the hardway......that others have mentioned.....trying to start an IM business with no money in your pocket and bill collectors breathing down your neck is pretty much impossible.

Luckily I was able to find a full time job which also allowed me to step away from IM for a few months. This was good becuase it allowed me to take a good look at myself and evaluate my strengths and weaknesses. Once I understood where my strengths lie I am now focusing on those strengths and promote those strengths.

So take a moment and really think about what you are good at. Are you a good writing? Offer to build Squidoo Lens's for people. Can you develop web sites? Through together some MiniSites and sell them for $25 a site. Can you sell someone the shirt off their back? Grab a product off Clickbank and promote the **** out of it.

The bottom line is that I feel your pain as I am still digging out from my unemployment. Stick with it and things will get better.....

    Best of Luck!

    Great posts.

It's all about doing something and getting paid.

Many people want to skip the first part.

What's cool is that the first part, doing something, often leads to you doing something else, and if you have a little smarts, doing something better, funner, that pays more.

    Real quick:

    1. Do something.
    2. Get paid.
    3. If you do good (or better yet - if you do great) then Lather- Rinse - Repeat.

    Twenty Twenty

Wow, frustration and depression have stolen all your hope. Not a single person on this thread has not been in a very tight fix, from their perspective, sometime in their lives.

You have been presented with numerous fantastic plans of action. Some are geared to long term success and some to getting you over this months hump. Admittedly not everything will fit with you, but you are a 46 year old adult...massage the ideas to fit you.

Really the nuggets of wisdom presented cannot be added to...they are golden...

It seems you are kind of being a jerk to people that are trying to make suggestions to help you. Just because you don't like what someone says doesn't mean you have to respond rudely.

You say you would like to do affiliate marketing, are you a member of any affiliate networks?

The cheapest/easiest thing to do is to try some article marketing with affiliate offers as others have suggested.

    • The problem is getting going can be a slow burn in IM and the problem as we can see it is a bit more pressing. Many of the threads on here of people clearing healthy numbers in a short space of time are often down to those who have some experience with previous projects. Often what you're seeing is a condensed version.

Start something by all means and do it during the points you can't be out doing something else.

People on here want to help. I apologise if I'm reading some of your responses incorrectly but some of them look a bit like you've already resigned yourself to your fate and that nothing will work. What can you lay your hands on. Do you have a garage? What's in it? What do you know how to do? What sort of town do you live in. What businesses are there? Which ones are stuggling. Let's see if we can start with some information

This has been said already, but it is worth saying again.

Get a job online. Customer support, be a VA. These are jobs that people nearly always need filled. If you are an affiliate type, then consider offering services.

Back in the day when I lived at my parent's house, in the middle of the countryside, and the furthest away from any jobs (the recession had just hit) I went out and got myself some business doing freelance work.

I wrote articles (some times till the end of the night) setup websites, gave newbie's my time showing them how to set up their sites and autoresponders. I became a VA/JV manager for an offline business person moving online. I made contacts, I forged friendships and business connections, and it was a baptism of fire. I learnt more about online marketing in one month of doing that than I had ever done before.

Times were crap, I had no money, no where to go, friends were off doing exciting things around the World (there mum and dad's paid for them). I know how u feel, low. I was there too.

It seems hard now to imagine, but there is so much you could be doing:

    - Backlink building
    - Article submission
    - Blog installation
    - Creating content, written, audio, visual, video (anything!)
    - Article creation
    - Email support

Forget minimum wage etc, if things are as desperate as you say they are, desperate times call for these measures. Work hard, learn about the industry, apply it and never look back. The people you work for may even turn out to be excellent mentors that can teach you how to take your 800 dollars a month online business, to an 8000 dollars a month business.

It won't be easy, pretty and it won't get you rich tomorrow. It may just get you out of a tight spot though if you do it right.

Also, don't let the recession affect you too much. I know a lot of people are hit hard by it, some people close to me. Change the way you think about work and employment (i.e. put your skills on show to the global market) and prove to yourself there is money out there still. Money moves, it doesn't disappear.

If you want to get into freelancing, get in touch, I have a step-by-step vid on youtube of how I did it, and I'll talk you through how to get some work. I won't coach, mentor or guide you through every step, but I'll talk to you and help where I can.

All the best to you my friend.

Hi there, I hate seeing posts like this, because I was in a similar situation a while ago, just soo frustrated with everybody telling me its soo easy, but I just seemed so lost. I feel your pain...

I now do CPA marketing and I can honestly say its the easiest money of everything I have ever done and the best part is that you can make money in the first few hours of trying it.

    This is what I suggest...

Sign up to a cpa network (there are threads in the cpa section that show exactly how to do it) - FREE

Now set up a free blog about one of the cpa offer niches. Try setting up a simple weight loss blog or make money at home blog - FREE

Now there are free methods to get people to your blog and to ultimately fill out the action that will get you paid. If you are not familiar with cpa offers, you can literlly make $35 for each person who signs up for a risk free trial of a home biz offer or weight loss offer. The cost to the consumer is only a buck or two for shipping normally.

Use craigslist traffic. Set up creative posts that will get people interested in what your selling to respond to the post. Personally respond to the responses and get them to your blog. I can literally get hundreds of responses per ad and you can post a bunch of ads. Dont direct the cl traffic to your affiliate link though..networks dont like this.

Offline traffic is another great method. Print out "make money from home" or "weight loss free trial" slips with your blog domain on it. Hand them out at apartment complexes on doors, cars etc. You can easily do 500 flyers a day this way.

Now the great part is that if you are getting paid $35 for every trial you can give out, then if you get ONE person to sign up every single day for a 30 day month...that's 35x30=$1050 per month.

I have done this exact thing at apartment complexes and made over $800 in a weekend...Yes it sucks to walk around and labor handing out flyers, but if your in desperate need, its a grreat way.

With craigslist traffic and offline traffic, I am 150% confident you can get 2 conversions a day = +2000 a month.

FYI, i will be coming out with a WSO in the next few weeks discussing this exact thing and will be looking for a few people who have struggled in the past to try out the WSO for free. PM if you want to be a guinea pig!

PM me with any other questions

    To Your Success my friend!

    Ken

You've gotten some good ideas about offering services online... You might look at something like textbroker.com - I'm not in anyway affiliated (I considered buying articles from them at one point, but decided to do my writing myself as I'm just getting started.)

I've read a ton of reviews on them, the pay isn't very high, but you can increase your rating as you do more articles (to get more $/word), they appear to be reliable about paying, you don't have to go find clients (clients come there, requests are put out there, and writers choose the articles they want to do from the requests).

And, if someone likes your writing, they can negotiate with you specifically to do more (rather than submitting a request and taking whatever writer picks it up). In these cases, you can negotiate a higher payout.

It would at least put some immediate cash in your pocket and help with the expenses, and you can find out if you like that type of writing (if so, you could build up your own business doing it, away from the site).

Good luck, I'm sorry you're going through such a rough time (been there too) and hope things get better for you soon...
