Part of the problem is that very few colleges teach SEO since it's a constantly evolving subject (plus it's very new). I always recommend HubSpot though....they have a great free training course that certifies you in inbound marketing. Other than that, just read Moz, SearchEngineLand, SearchEngineJournal, Matt Cutts, Hubspot, etc. to learn the latest tips and tactics.

It depends on what "Course" do you want to enroll? Is it an online course, college course, SEO courses created by Gurus? Accreditation Course?

Most of the courses out there tackles only the basics of SEO so It wouldn't help you much on your own projects. My suggestion is do your research or enroll on small courses only and apply what you've learned.

You'll learn more by testing and as kk075 has mentioned, SEO evolves really fast so it might not be a good idea if you're enrolling on a school that teaches and outdated methods and end up doing your own research.

Personally, I would enroll on small courses as there are tiny bits that you can learn from them and still useful, aside from that the only advantage that I can think of Is, courses you'll get certificates which will be a very good help when finding clients when just starting out. (reviews and testimonials of your clients will still play a bigger role)
