Viral website Adsense arbitrage

Hi everyone,

I'd like to pick the brains of all the internet marketers on here.

I've seen a lot of Viral websites come up for sale on Flippa. Like this one: https://flippa.com/4418872-one-of-a-...king-24-677-mo

The all seems to have a common pattern. They buy they traffic from a mysterious source dirt cheap and then make a profit by displaying Adsense ads on their website. They scale this system up and make a ton of money for a few months 3-5 months and then put the website for sale on Flippa.

The business model sounds great, and they have their Adsense earning verified but I am little suspicious as to why they have been so many similar websites come up for sale.

Does anyone have an idea what maybe the catch here?

You might want to do a search for flippa auction income claims on this board.

It should be an eye opener.

Make sure you're getting real traffic.

    It's easy to verify.

Just use AHREFS, QuickSprout, and Alexa Site info.

Don't think I would trust a site like that..Always ask questions! For that kind of money I would want access to see the Analytics myself. I would go through every single thing and make sure I understand exactly where all the traffic is coming from.

Assuming it's "real' (which I doubt), it is an extremely risky business because Google has been whapping sites like this with "account disabled" notices and then all is gone, totally, quick.

    I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole.

Here's what I don't get. On many forums, especially those with an Adsense focus, there is a lot of talk about accounts getting disabled and there's a lot of talk about how Google frowns on paid traffic and arbitrage. But it seems to be the business model for many established sites. ViralNoval and similar sites all seem to rely on Outbrain or other similar traffic generators. What's the deal? What type of arbitrage is allowed and what isn't?

So is no one here into viral sites and ad arbitrage?

Thank you everyone for the feedback.

ahounddog brings up an interesting point. I wish google was clearer on this point.

As I don't see anything ethically wrong with such an arbitrage system. I don't see how it would negatively effect google or their advertisers so I don't understand the logic of google shutting down sites that pay for traffic.

About viral websites with lots of traffic, the real deal is using Facebook PPC or CPM to drive traffic and you will need to be quite good to optimize Facebook advertising campaigns or else you will lose quite a lot of money.

Secondly the biggest Viral website like Viralnova for example, use that model and make quite a lot of money, but you also need to invest a lot in Facebook advertising, normally you can start with $500 to $1000 per month and then scale it.

Probably many of those websites are driving lots of fake traffic just to flip those websites.

I run a site like that and it works well.

Adsense won't close your account if you do not violate their TOS.

They actually emailed me twice about certain posts on my site that was in violation.

Violence, sexual, drugs etc type of posts is not allowed.

All I had to do was take the ads off those 2 posts and they were happy.

As for paid traffic. All the big sites on the net uses paid traffic and run Adsense ads so I don't understand why people think Adsense does not allow paid traffic. It's absurd.

          Hope that helps

            Hello Jan,

I am also running a website that publishes viral contents like viral nova and upworthy. I am planning to apply for adsense for the first time and quite worried about not getting approved because of copyright issues. I do provide the source of my materials.

My site is 1 year old. What are the tips you can give me in order to successfully apply my website. Thanks in advance.

Whats funny is everyone speculating about running paid traffic to adsense sites and getting shut down. It's clearly acceptable to run paid traffic to your websites with Adsense on them, Google even says so, but there are a few rules you need to be aware of and set up a few tracking methods Google recommends, which I'm sure people who have had their accounts banned in the past did not do.

dirt cheap traffic can't make you earn a lot from adsense......

if not wrong end of the day they will deduct those invalid clicks etc..

Instead of banning such a huge earning site google will promote it to high paying advertisers as google will have 32% of earnings. If it is violating traffic source rule only then google can neglect it..
