Starting a DIY niche site using Instructable articles?

I really like the idea of starting a DIY niche site.

I found a cool site called Ikea Hackers.
There are some in-depth how-to articles and then there are also some smaller articles with only 100 or so words.

I was wondering if it is legal to make a niche how-to site that used images and instructions from sites like Instructables. Of course I could write my own unique/revised instructions if needed, but I was wondering what type of credit would be required(if any).

    You have to contact the site owner and ask for permission if your intention is to repost their content. This is the only viable way,but there is still the problem of duplicate content. Simply rewriting their content is not gonna cut it if you want to be successfull in the long run.

    You would have to contact the website for 'Extensive content copying'

    However for minor things, like quotes, just leave a link back in your article.
