Testing different mediums?

I've been testing three different types of ads on Facebook: photo, video, and link.

Even though I have some preliminary results (e.g. targeting, response from type of post), I feel like I've tested too many things concurrently, given there are issues with my ad copy and the type of post I selected. When you run ads, do you just stick to the type of post your gut (and experience) tells you while you fix your copy before working on the type of post? I would love to know your thoughts regarding this process.

I've done that as well and in the end I was not able to test everything thoroughly due to lack of time and amount of work that needs to be done for testing.

Also different kinds of ads will have different results based on medium so an ad that worked on facebook might not work other mediums.

For me, it's better to test one at a time if you are just a small company and do not have a team yet.

That's my thought process too, but I was looking more for guidance on the testing sequence. I'm currently cutting my teeth with Facebook first before moving onto other mediums like solo ads and Youtube ads.
