Is There Anything Approaching a "Standard" Size for Header & Footer Graphics on Sales Pages?

Anything?

The reason I'm asking is:

A) So I can create a sales page for my eBook.
B) To create some generic headers others can use.

I've looked around, and seen things all over the board. I had thought there might be templates that people build around--heck, there are enough PLR books with pre-built sales pages that I would have thought people were using templates to churn these things out.

Widths I have seen: 816, 780, 900, 920, 789, 747, 987, 800, 782, 746, 850, 1000, 682, 810, 760.

See? All over the place...

I noticed that most graphic designers, unless told otherwise, will go with something between 780-800px when they make the header/footer graphics for salespages.

The majority of sales pages are around those values. Probably, it is easier to read than a wider page. Conf.: the width of this page, between the two "shadow" lines is approx. 1000px. Now, take off the margins, padding, sidebar - the real content area which is easy to read should be around 800 or so.

    Hi Dan,

I always stay with 780-900 for widths on everything. A lot depends on what is on the page below and how it lays out.

    Thanks,

    John

Depends on the client and application. You will never see a standard size. Ever.

I've been advised to design for 900px, as well.

Header width is usualy decided by the page width - 780 was often recomended before
flexible widths became common because this fitted on a 15" screen without the need for
    horizontal scrollling -
I think it remains common because it is a comfortable reading width - if the page is wider with text using the whole page width it becomes less easy to read -
