Is there a way to find out if a solo ad list is legit?

I have heard so many things about solo ads and how great they are for converting. I also heard many stories about people running scam lists to make money. I have tried using solo ads once a while ago and the results were extremely disappointing. I wonder if any one knows how to tell the difference between legit and scam lists. Please don't say read the reviews and what people say about the list, we all know that the scam artists hire all kinds of people to leave positive reviews for their lists. Thanks.

    There are clues, multiple clues . . .

    Here's just one.

    Ask the list owner to allow you to contact X number of recent satisfied customers. Get the contact information and talk to the clients. You can get a pretty good feel if someone is BSing you or if they really did have a successful campaign. The more happy campers you speak with the better the odds that you're not just talking with buddies trying to help the list owner. Ask specifics about the campaign - most buddies will fumble and trip over themselves if they're making things up. And by speaking with a number of people, you will be able to discount the fabrications that give you unrealistic averages.

    I read that there are several FB groups and Skype users that have nice lists. You can also ask buyers of the solo ads (for eg if they are Warrior members) or if they have email on the testimonial.

    Initially I would check the review:

    - Check if it's getting any sales - make sure the sales is consistent
    - Check if there's a single negative review - If there is even if it's only one stay away from it.

    Test only small amount of clicks around 200 clicks and see if it fits your list.
    Check the response rate and how many poeple initially downloaded the promised report.
    Check your initial response rate for the email follow ups

    There's no really easy way to tell whether a solo ad seller is legit or not. Some good sellers might scam someone from time to time just saying. So once you found the good once, make sure to build relationship with them.

    Get a real name behind the list

    Do a background check to see if they've ever been arrested or sued for fraud.

    Check online reviews of the solo ads.

    The best way is to order a VERY TINY SAMPLE

    Look for traffic coming from the same IP

    look for traffic coming from the same MAC address

    Look to see if traffic comes from NON-US sources when the seller says his list is US only

    find the relevant groups on FB and read the reviews. search somethin like solo ads in group category and you will find many.
    A different suggestion though is you can go for funnel clicks. they are much better performers as the clicks are from people who are already in the process of some purchase, so at that moment they are in that mindset already which helps increasing your sales. Moreover they are less costly than solo ads so double benefit. However they generally take time to deliver not much though. so if u'r not in hurry funnel clicks could be the better option for you. Plus its always better to test with fewer nunber of clicks before purchasing bulk. Wish you luck
