How to discover if guys claiming to be legit I'm coaches are actually legit or not

Hey babes

Most newbies are looking for mentors. There are quite few warrior members who claim are bad ass IM and offer coaching.

What's the best way to find out if those who offer I'm coaching for money are actually proper or not.

    It's a crap-shoot.

Tip: Never pay more than a few dollars up-front without an escrow service and/or contracts. This is also a way to weed out the fakes as they won't want to be potentially held accountable.

Other things to look at are their payment methods. Do they want you to pay by some means where you have little or no protection or recourse?

I think certain people won't find what they are looking for - no matter the level of legitimacy a certain coach may have - until and unless their mindset changes.

For example, 3 weeks ago you posted:

Long story short...don't get disappointed by what you hear. If someone is actually successful making millions, they dont waste their time in forums...they either at the beach somewhere partying or makin products that make the world a better place.
If that's what you believe, then you probably would go into any coaching relationship with doubts and mindset issues that will ultimately damage the process because by extension to what you said - any coach making any real money would be out doing what they are teaching instead of coaching and if they aren't doing it they are laying out on the beach somewhere sipping martinis.

It doesn't matter whether or not a coach is "proper" if the student goes into it with mindset or other serious issues.

References. Just like a job candidate. You want to speak to a couple people who have been through the person's program.

Well when you look at it logically,
if they were any good at making money online,
they wouldn't need to be selling coaching on forums.

Some do it to diversify their streams of income.

You can't have too many streams out there.

But I guess people like Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy , Jay Abraham, and John Carlton couldn't succeed as Copywriters and Marketers in the real world so they started selling their Courses and Coaching Services lol

Not true at all, I make good money within my own business.

I have business owners that run multimillion dollar companies that use my coaching services. I don't have to, but I do - because I enjoy helping people.

This is the FURTHEST things from logic and borders on the
      ridiculous.

So doctors wouldn't be teaching medical school if they could
work at a hospital? A flying instructor wouldn't be teaching
flying if he could work for an airline?

But they're not advertising on forums either.

Maybe because doctors and flight instructors aren't internet marketers who work on the internet...you know...where forums are? Where different ways of advertising exist apart from the real world?

How does advertising on one medium vs. another make the service any less valuable or legitimate?

Are you saying if coaches were advertising their services on Craigslist or in the newspaper, that would mean they were actually successful? Ridiculous logic.

You should have also said that they are not coaches either
following YOUR logic. How do you know that they don't
advertise on forums? You are a member of every forum?

It's not. The premise of his argument was that nobody will
teach a skill they can be using to make money. If they are
teaching, it is because they can't benefit otherwise. It is
the same idea expressed in "Those who can't do, teach"
and it's just as illogical. And it's an insult to those of us
            who teach.

    Excellent advice thus far (mostly).

    Just to add . . .

    1. Choose the right "type" of coach.
    2. Is he an authority in his arena?

If I was starting out today, aside from taking the useful advice already given, I'd want to be sure I was hiring the best coach of a given subject. If I wanted to learn domain flipping, I'd want Coach A, app development would be Coach B, and so forth.

How can you research a coach and find out if he's the most affordable authority?

    1. Ask around.
    2. Is he on a forum? Visit his profile, click on statistics, and read his posts.
    3. Does he have any sites? Go take a look. Do they look amateurish? Is he practicing what he preaches?
    4. Talk to him.

You have to also consider why someone is a coach. Are they coaching because they lack the skills to put their "knowledge" into practice? Or are there other reasons?

Here are the typical reasons for coaching:

    1. It pays well.
    2. It's enjoyable.
    3. It's a rewarding challenge.
    4. Non-coaching work is predominantly on auto-pilot (staff, VAs, etc).

I can tell you why I began coaching. It was for the money, but not in the way you'd expect.

Part of me just wanted a new challenge; the other part wanted to get a better understanding of my target audience. That way, I knew I'd be better able to deliver information (products, blogs, etc, etc). I knew the more I understood the audience, the better I'd do in my main areas of business (which are outside of coaching). As an example: info products. To write a WSO (or any info product) you're teaching a faceless audience how to make money. The more you understand that audience, the better you can teach them, and therefore the more money you'll make selling those WSOs, eBooks, and memberships.

To explain . . . I began working online 21 years ago come this September. But my entry into the MMO (Make Money Online) market is a relatively recent one. I'd been working online for 2 decades but I wanted to coach in order to get more insight into the people who might be reading my blogs, buying my products, hiring either myself or my team for different services. Coaching to me, then, is very much a symbiotic relationship. I coach students on different areas of the business and, by doing so, they make me a better marketer in MMO. You learn so much, especially from absolute newcomers. Taking someone totally green really makes you see the world from their POV. It sharpens all of your skills as a teacher - since, when it comes down to it, everyone in the MMO market is a teacher; whether we're selling info-products, coaching, or even writing instructional blog posts.

Check out some of there content, products, reviews, testimonials, and even join their email list. If you resonate with their ways of teaching and you trust their character then you might want to check out their coaching services. It's really up to you to determine whether or not he/she is the right coach for "you". It's easy to find a coach, but it's not easy to find a coach that you would like to work with long-term. Some coaches are very specific in their teachings, some are very general in their teaching. Some coaches are very hands-on, other coaches try to keep their distance.

Some coaches offer free coaching sessions, or strategy calls which is a great opportunity to "try before you buy".
