Hello Warriors,

For those of you promoting your services to offline companies, how do you receive payments from clients?

Do you take checks?
Is the check made out in your name or your company's name?
Do you have a merchant account and take credit card payments?
Etc...?

Thanks!

Check, paypal or merchant account... doesn't really matter as long as you get paid

      Christie,

Local offline companies typically pay me with a check
made out to my company name.

I also barter on occasion, but that is a different story

Brian, great to see there are others out and about who also barter at times. I will often barter to get great items and it will cost much less than had I went out and bought it at a typical store.

I accept cash, money order and checks made out to my company name. I also accept Paypal which the can pay from their phone now which is nice, mainly I prefer cash and I provide receipts to them, I don't care much for dealing with checks and this may be something I stop accepting soon.

I've always been paid via check to my business name. I've never had a request to pay via credit card, although I'm prepared to accept credit cards via Paypal virtual terminal. I either collect a check in advance or submit an email invoice from Quickbooks that is due upon receipt.

Hello Christie. To answer you question about Merchant accounts, it is going to very a lot on your business and transactions. If you doing a lot of transactions for various amounts, than a merchant account is something to look into. However, if you are only doing 2-5 payments a month via Credit Card, then using Paypal or other merchant faciliator is not only going to be cheaper but less of a hasle getting setup.

Keep in mind that many merchant accounts require you to either pay for their software or lease their equipment, not to mention a manditory monthly fee which varies greatly between company to company.

Credit or Debit card! Instant payment!

For residuals I would recommend a standing order or equivalent. Its called a standing order in the UK and is an electronic agreement between your clients account and your business account to transfer the said amount each month.

This makes it automated as there is nothing harder than chasing money each month. It also makes things super easy!
