    Hi Newzy...

Firstly, put yourself in the shoes of the visitor and answer the question as to what would cause you to register and participate in your forum and then implement!

Get into the mind of your target audience my friend and give them what they are looking for.

    You need content!
Start threads with topics that would be of interest to your audience!
    You need regular activity!
Make sure you don't start with too many forum topics!
    You need patience!

Find some ways to drive traffic to your forum... you can upload videos to youtube relevant to your forum topics, build a social media following and direct your followers to your forum, use google ppc to drive instant quick traffic etc

All that is left for me now is to ACT! Thanks for the summary

    Hey,

I've never had success creating forums without a huge influence in whatever industry I'm targeting. Forums are one of those things where you really need a way to get the ball rolling very quickly. If you don't have major influence or a pre-designed method to get a lot of people to sign up and interact quickly, the forum will probably die off.

You need to find a method to get as many highly-interactive, loyal people to the forum as quickly as possible. It's like trying to get a fire started. Once the fire is burning, it's easy to keep it going by just adding some wood. However, the trick is figuring out something that you can use to quickly get the fire started. If it doesn't have enough momentum/fuel, the fire will die off.

Starting and marketing a forum is tough. Make sure all links point to it. It's a catch 22. Your forum needs members - but if it looks inactive, then nobody will want to join.

Some people who are forums are aware of this, and create multiple fake profiles and make posts all around the forum to make it seem "active". Or "popular". Then eventually, outsiders will come and check out what's going on in the forum, and if they see topics being discussed that they're interested about... more than likely they'll join. And etc.

LinkedIn groups and FB groups are great places to promote your forum

Also, INCENTIVIZE members to recruit their friends

If I were you, I'd invest in TONS of forum posts though....

The EMPTY RESTAURANT EFFECT has killed forums since time immemorial

Write some content for your forum, something that will get people's attention. You can promote it everywhere on social media, through FB ads, Banners on business related sites, etc...

I've grown my share of forums.

    Look into:

    1. Media Buys
    2. Socials
    3. SEO Plugins
    4. Rich Content
    5. Lists

I could go on all day. The above 5 are key, though. If you're talking a marketing forum, it helps to get well-known members or seriously advanced ones. That will help to open the flood gates. It's a difficult model for you. Easiest way? If you have expertise in a certain area of marketing, create a mastermind group of sorts, inviting folks you know to discuss advanced methods. This will help to make the forum sticky for when you apply the above 5 systems.
