Do you self sabotage?

I just started reading a book that is changing my life. It's "The Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks. And it's some powerful stuff. The premise is that we all have an Upper Limit...and when we reach it, we tend to stop, self sabotage. It could be any part of our life, money, relationships, creativity...whatever it is.

I've done this many times in my life. Gotten to a certain income level and even stretched it higher than ever before, then wham! sabotage.

The cure? I'm still reading but so far it's brilliant and practical and just what I needed right now in my life. Part of the cure is transforming fear into excitement and exhilaration. Hendricks talks about how you do this by breathing, don't ignore fear, feel it and breathe deeply and allow it to transform into excitement.

The other part, begin spending time in appreciation, start simply, appreciate every breath you breathe for the next 30 seconds. Now appreciate the money you do have in your pocket. Appreciate the love you have in your life. Appreciate the creativity you have and have expressed.

Do it 30 seconds at a time. The problem many of us have is we cannot go very long feeling good. We start to feel good and sabotage ourselves. I know I do it. Anyone else?

Now, it's off to spend 30 seconds in feeling good, appreciating and embracing my life.

Namaste

I did it for a long time but have been able to change things around. I learned that the ceiling we put on ourselves is created in our childhood mostly. We get told over and over again that the only way to get by in life is to work hard for someone else and earn a wage doing it.I don't know how many times I was told to get my high school degree and go to work at General Motors. Never was I told that I could do anything I wanted or that there was no limit to my success. What I did was make a new belief, one that over rides the belief I had before. I wrote what I wanted down on paper and kept it with and read it every opportunity I got. After about thirty days of telling youself the things you've written down, it becomes a belief. It's worked for me.

It's all about getting used to a certain comfort zone....

Comfort zones, if we're not careful, can become prisons.

Those invisible walls start caving in.

Eventually, you won't give yourself permission to do much of anything....
