Default How Would You Use IM to Sell a Seminar/Workshop with No List?

Hey Guys,

So, I have a successful selling e-course on the subject of Public Speaking and most have sold in the US and I'm located in Australia.

I would like to conduct 1-2 day presentation skills workshops in Brisbane/Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne and would like to hear your suggestions for getting attendees using IM. The average cost per attendee is around $895AUS for a day course.

Here's the ones I'm thinking:

- Create Videos for each city and distribute with Tube Mogul
- Submit articles
- PPC is very expensive
- Create some JV with local businesses with email lists.
- Press Releases

Anything else you can suggest would be very helpful,

Kind Regards,
Dale

Another idea: find a co-sponsor, especially 1)local media (newspapers, radio), 2)local small business centers or 3)local banks.

I've seen each of those three strategies succeed spectacularly in Boston.

In addition, you can invest your advertising budget on advertising a free seminar that provides great value but also serves as a plug for the paid seminar.

Since 1990 I've presented what must be more than 40 public seminars, so I've always kept my eyes open for what works.

Online Classifieds.

I am running an IM seminar for offline business owners this week and my first 10-15 confirmed seats were through classifed ads online.

My thoughts are start building a list. Use social media, Networking and know who your ideal clients and customers are. Ask people you meet at network events for contacts, try Joint ventures, use affiliate marketing, ask others with large lists to send out mail, etc.

Also, do free taster evenings, & advertise on local radio. At the end of the day though, if you want to use IM, you need to start building a list. I tried this a couple of years ago, without a list, and it was not a huge success. All my attendees cam in the end from pure networking & following up.

Do local advertising be it newspaper, classifieds and radio. As Marcia said you could do a couple of free seminars and pre-sell them for you larger scale seminar. You could also create video from the free seminar and use it in a squeeze page to build your own list!

Definitely classified both online and offline (eg local newspaper).

Post flyers in libraries, hand them out at events where you might find your target audience.

Use social media, eg twitter, your facebook.

Send an event invitation to your Facebook friends.

Facebook PPC ads, very targeted and cheaper than Google.

Run contest to get people to retweet your website link.

Hope this helps.
