What's best software for download of zipped file for my customers?

Hi:

I am about to offer downloads in two different situations.

-1- A free PDF to new ezine subscribers

-2- A paid product (zipped file with video creation software)

What is the best reasonably priced software to use to protect the download page??

Thanks for any suggestions.

Why not just use JVZoo or Warrior Plus, you can upload your products there and they will only have access after payment is made, it is hosted by them.

Free to add products, they take small percentage of sale, plus you can get affiliates from either site.

Or if you are using WordPress there are a few paid programs you can buy and set up, there are some plugins you can check out too.

      HDRider:

Thanks for the info, but my paid product is one I bought through
      JVZoo with re-sale rights.

The free product is a Video Marketing Toolkit PDF that I am
offering to new subscribers to a free weekly email newsletter
      that I am starting up.

I'm trying to get guidance from anyone who has used any
WordPress plugin in for instance (free or paid) that would
limit my download page to those who have opted-in to my
      list.

Any other software, free or paid would do as long as someone
      can vouch for reliability.

I like s2member - I know the options are a bit daunting when you first install it but it's incredibly powerful.

And, the free version has file download protection built in. Just upload your file into the s2member-files folder and link to it using the shortcode
        Code:
        <a href="/wp/?s2member_file_download=Filename.ext">*Download Here</a>
Plus, once you take a few minutes to work through the setup you'll know it for the next time you need it. I have it installed on 30+ of my own sites and at least 10 client sites.

          Dean:

QUESTION: Could a new subscriber just give out the download link (in the shortcode)
to anyone else who could then download without subscribing to my newsletter??

You set up membership levels for the site - regular guests have access to all the free content.

Once someone has purchased your product they are at a different level, have access to protected content.

You insert that link on one of the pages that is protected - thus, the download is only available to someone with that access level.

OK. I think I get it. I'm a little techno-phobic, but I'm going to install that plugin
              and give it a shot.

Thanks Dean and everyone else who chimed in with thoughtful suggestions.

Alternative to software is a service like e-Junkie. It's time tested and proven, easy to set up and you can get a free trial period to test it out. You can be up and running in just a few minutes - no long learning curve. You only pay for the number of products you want to sell. And they are as secure as anyone around. Also, there is a marketplace for e-Junkie members so you can get additional traffic to your offer.

E-junkie has no transaction limit,no bandwidth limit, no setup fee and no transaction fee - just a small monthly subscriber fee.

I use WPMUDev's "Membership" plugin, which I believe costs $20 with one month of tech support. I use it and it works great. I don't know the INs and OUTs of the plugin, as it does a ton of things i personally dont need. But i believe it would be useful for you.

    Membership plugin download

It's a complete site-protection system, so it might do a lot more than you're asking for.

However, it does let you protect individual URLS/pages, as well as every file collectively stored after a URL. For example, it will protect every file under "Mysite.com/downloads/."

In the case above, only signed-in members can access the files. WIll your users be creating a site username/password?

If not, then I think the plugin also lets you create "invite codes," so maybe you can get creative with these. For instance, disclose a code in an autoresponder message once someone opts in to your newsletter, followed by the URL (which is only accessible by entering such invite code).

Anyway, take a look at all these videos to get a better idea:

    Hope that helps.

      Epic Passive Income:

That was an awesome plugin you recommended complete with
a series of clear-cut instructional videos.

But it was too elaborate for what I need. I want to avoid any
membership maintenance obligations, but I do understand the
great advantages of having a membership site. Thanks for
      the great resource you suggested.

I want to be able to direct a new ezine subscriber to a protected
download link for a free PDF ebook (Video Marketing Toolkit).

So far I have it set up where the link is to be revealed once the
new subscriber gets my first autoresponder message, but I
have no method of making that download link unique for each
      individual.

Guess I will do a SE search for relevant WordPress plugins
that I can hook upto my autoresponder.

Probably DL Guard. The developer knows his stuff and will help you set it up.
