What's the best whois email to use for security of the domain?

I'm doing a "security audit" for my computers and online life including my domains and have a question about what email address is best to have on file for the whois information.

It seems like a mistake to use a custom email address (name@mydomain.com) using a domain that is registered with the same registrar (mydomain.com) because if the registrar account was compromised they could compromise that email address. Also, if the hosting account was compromised the same issue.

I could use a gmail address where I have 2-step security, but if the worst happened with my gmail account I highly doubt I'd be able to get in touch with any support at Google.

So, what do you do with your domain whois information and recommend for the best security? Thank you very much for your advice!

I use a yahoo email account and have it forward to a master email address. I use the yahoo account as the email for the domain. I don't think there is more more you can do in terms of security. Setup your email accounts with your phone -- I don't think they would be able to hack your email account and your phone at the same time, lol!
