How to securely deliver my digital product?

I have a product package that has two large PDFs and some audios.

The products are a one-off purchasee, not an ongoing membership arrangement.

How can I deliver these securely online to my customers? I want to strike the right balance between taking reasonable steps to prevent people stealing these products and also keeping things easy and simple. Thanks for any advice on this.

You can't actually protect it. Only keep legit buyers from having easy access to it.

If you protect it and someone really wants it they'll just buy it, then refund and upload it to a torrent site.

Use the built in protections of the software you've got, hide your download page and noindex it, then move on.

I agree with this in general... if you did want to get more complicated you could use themes like OptimizePress/OptimizeMember where you can setup a secured member only download folder.

I know you mentioned this was not an ongoing membership but you could use the technology available through OptimizeMember and then configure the payment/checkout as a one-time purchase.

For the PDFs you can use something like International Primo PDF to restrict the documents.

In the end none of this will 100% protect your work, only make it harder to get to without payment but as mentioned once one customer releases it then it is out there.

You can setup a Google Alert for information specific to your product and get notified if it appears somewhere. Then you could contact the site owner and demand removal or take legal action... this in itself can become a full time job if your stuff gets out there though and costly to defend.

There are alot of precautionary steps that you can take to secure your digital product. Here are a few ideas:

    1) Purchase DL Guard (by Sam Stephens - great guy)

    2) Talk to a guy named Adrian Ling (another great guy)

    3) Create a password on the directory your digital product is located in (programming skills necessary with some website builders. But probably can do it using FTP.)

    4) Secure the file itself, and make it available for just a 1-time only download - even if the customer installed, and then accidentally uninstalled it

    5) Create a robot.txt file (not perfect, but... it is what it is)

You can consider these 5 things (and more).

But the bottom line is.... when they download your product, there's no telling what the heck your customer will do with it. It's just the nature of the digital product business.

You can keep the files on your server and provide a link through your autoresonder for your buyers to download. You can use a copyright section in your documents to warn them about the misuse of files. Many people are scared but simple words if you write about what legal acrion could be taken against them. Else you can use the link to your website etc inside th docs so if any people misuse them even you will indirectly get the benefits. You can use PDF editors to encrypt your file from editing and modifications too...

You can't stop people from stealing and sharing your digital products. There are several sites that give direct download links to hundreds of WSO's and all of the Top IM Courses and software programs for free or next to nothing. If the top IM Gurus and multimillion dollar earners can't shut these sites down then what chance do you stand?

These ripoff sites must be hosted in China and/or Russia.

Hollywood has been unable to stop China from stealing their films and selling them on the black market before they are even released in movie theaters and some of the Pentagons top secret weapon systems, tanks, planes and ships are full of counterfeit Chinese parts.

So just focus on what you can control like delivering more value and top notch customer service. Build solid relationships with your customers and network with other marketers.

      Cheers,
      Steve

100% security is not possible as other members have said. I think you can use clickbank to securely host and sell your stuff for maximum security.

A good way to protect a large amount of files is to create a members area where users will access the content in a library type system. This way they can't just send the whole folder to a friend. However, they can just give out their login details so even this way has a downside.

Lots of good answers here already. It's very tough to keep your content secure. I don't lose sleep over this. In your PDFs include some affiliate links or links to your other sites & products of yours... so if they do get leaked out, at least you're gaining extra exposure for all the related stuff that you offer.
