Did Google just throw I.Mer's a bone?

I'm sure most of you remember when Google pulled the mat from right under us, with the Panda updates, but this latest update seems to be a good thing.

I tested a site that didn't rank anywhere for the keywords, and when I uploaded a mobile friendly template, it shot all the way up to the top. I checked the sites that were ranking ahead of me, and their sites were not mobile friendly.

Is anybody else experiencing a boost after the latest update?

I have also noticed that mobile friendly templates are search engine optimized and often out ranks the competition for you desired keyword.

      Is that after the update?

The update overall seems to have very little impact. I think the entire update was overhyped, and I doubt that it can really be that large of a signal. I guess it depends on the industry or niche as well, but I've seen very little changes even on a mobile device.
You may be right, but if the niche is small enough, I think it will be enough of an impact. I haven't made EMD websites in a long time, but I think we might be able to make them now or at least for the time being

I'm going to try and test some more. All I did was throw up a mobile friendly template after the change took affect, and it shot up to the top ranking. I'm just being lazy, by asking if anyone has experience the same, but would be worth looking into

Is it mobile friendly? or did you check if competing pages took a hit?

The more likely reason is that you are actively engaged in your website. Whether it's a new theme, content updates, or whatever. It's also possible the new theme was considerably faster loading than your old one.

And EMD sites never stopped working... take a look at almost any local results, still incredibly powerful, most people just mess it up from over optimization.

I just uploaded some slow loading digital download script, but it was mobile friendly. I didn't add any content or anything. I think it's addition by subtraction. I think Google may have gave a little slap to sites that aren't mobile optimized. I checked the sites that owned the first few pages with the Google mobile tool, and they all weren't mobile optimize. There is one site ahead of mine, and they are mobile optimized, and have some authority.

The keywords I tested it with, wasn't anything big, but for to jump to the top just like that, is insane. It may be nothing, but encouraging for sure.

The mobile update has no effect on desktop. Check this:

The Quality Update: Google Confirms Changing How Quality Is Assessed, Resulting In Rankings Shake-Up

MY guess is that you experienced something related to the phantom update that happened around May 4th, which is a core change to the algorithm, and not a filter.

To be honest I never really had a problem with the serps. I remember over five years ago I had a deposit due for a little over 30 grand and they suspended my account. I've learned since then and have made alot of money from google. Thank you guyes

Not surprised someone made a WSO about it, but would be if anybody didn't already know that

Now would be the best time to pitch mobile friendly sites to local business for sure.

You are right. Mobile friendly sites are getting more visitors from mobile users. I have seen that my traffic and adsense earnings have increased due to increases mobile users traffic.

Yes, I did notice a boost and it is very welcome since the last update where I took a substantial hit. It's nice to see Google doing something to help us IM'ers, even by accident.

Yea, I consent to your discourse. I additionally include with you that when I was working with a portable well disposed layout, I denoted this that the site was positioning so quickly.

I didn't notice any movement up or down across all of my sites. I got all of my sites mobile-friendly at the last second -- two days before the update. I've noticed more movement from the latest 'Google quality update' than the 'mobilegeddon'. Hahaha -- what a fitting name for an update that seemed to have virtually ZERO noticeable impact on most websites.
