Some Guidance for Blogger Please...

Hello everyone,

I just started blogging today, and so far submitted my website to google as well as submitted all my posts to sitemap.

My questions are:

1, Why does Google Analytics show my realtime user number is 0? There is something not normal with that. The number of sessions is about 50/day.

2, Is there any stable, normal way to promote my blog posts? I've heard the social media are good, but have no idea how to begin.

Thanks!

If you get 50 people a day, thats 2 an hour, try catching 2 in a hour in real time!

Haha indeed. However, when I go to my website and close the webpage afterwards, the real time counter still doesn't register.

Also, how did you grow your blog when beginning? Will simply post new posts each day (I can deliver around 10 posts a day) work? Is there a method I can share my posts on social media or on other websites?

      Thank you very much!

It wont register as you're logged in to Analytics Try using Incognito mode in Chrome when you want to check for things like this, that includes your search rankings as when you're logged in to Google, Google favours your site as you visit it often!

In the beginning I bought a $75 AdWords voucher from eBay for about $5 and then I spent it to get my initial traffic to my site. That got my user base to start with and from word of mouth and trying to ask bloggers to link to me and write about me thats how I started to grow.

Dont focus on quantity, but quality, I know its cliche but for example a 1,500 word post with images etc. in it will out rank a 500 word post. Give great value and free stuff and people will share.

I would research keywords, so things people are searching for in Google or some hot topics in your niche and write about them to try and get some traffic from Google. However you need to try and persuade other websites to link to yours, whether its a link exchange or you pay them to put a link on their site. This will make Google think your site is more credible.

Start a Facebook and Twitter page and work on getting likes/followers and then if you build up relationships with other bloggers you could do swaps like ill post your articLe on my twitter and you post mine etc.

Does this help a bit? Its a big topic

Thank you for your help! Just wondering, when the Analytics tells me that there were 60 sessions on my blog, how probable are these sessions from real people, and not just some robots?

Also, I do have a Twitter and FB page. However, they all require money to promote. Is there a way I can add people in my group when they are not my friends?

Hi sessions could be the same person going on every now and again, you should be looking at unique people to see how many different real people have gone on. For example I get 13,068 sessions a month and 10,443 users.

To promote your page you can promote them on Facebook groups that center around your niche. Give them a reason to join it. E.g. posting quality content every few days to help them solve their problems .

Promoting your blog posts is easy. Here are some tips:

    - Make a blog post everyday
    - Be sure to blog and ping
    - Promote on relevant forums
    - Promote in email list signature
    - Become a guest blogger
    - Comment on other related blogs
    - Network and do joint ventures
    - Use paid advertising
    - Youtube
    - Plain ole SEO

You can use social media for promoting you blog post.
    1. Twitter

Post your article to Twitter and then schedule several additional tweets to go out over the course of the week.

To make the most of this strategy, put a new spin on these tweets by changing up your original article title. This allows you to A/B test which verbiage performs and which falls flat.
    2. Google+

Not only is Google+ an excellent place to post your original content for increased SEO, it is also an important network to build relationships with those eager to +1 and share your content.

The possibility of “going viral” is very real when Google+ is used properly.

    3. Facebook

Make it a habit of posting your article to Facebook with a your newly created graphic and a quick and simple status update relevant to your blog on your Facebook page.

Don’t forget to provide a link to discussed articles. At the same time, place eye-catching advertisements on Facebook to further promote your new articles.
    4. LinkedIn

You can share your latest article to your LinkedIn profile, plus any group you manage or belong to that allows you to share your own content.

Many groups on LinkedIn, Facebook and Google_ frown on “link dropping” so make sure to read the group rules before making that mistake. After social media, consider the following methods as well.
    5. YouTube

Consider turning your post into a video. Did you offer tips or a how-to?

Take one tip and share it in a quick 15-30 second video. Then direct viewers to your site for further information on the subject.

  • Hello lulu219

First check that Google Analitycs is configured work and you keep controlled the number of users, not connections.

To increase traffic to your blog you must post everyday quality content with keywords, public often videos or video tutorial.

If you already have a Facebook fan page you can invite your fans to leave their email address via an optin page, offering them something of value for free, so you will create a list of names to which you can send e-mail education.

Do the same on all of your social profiles (YouTube, Google+, etc ...).

Blog entries share them in real time on all of your social, you have to be interactive and always respond, creating a community.

    Good Luck :-)

1, Why does Google Analytics show my realtime user number is 0?
I suggest you look into some different analytics, GA is the worst!

    Try clicky.com.

    1) At some time there may be 0 people. At another time there may 5 people. Another reason is that usually people on your website only for few moments. Like 1-5 seconds :-)

    2) To promote your website, use:
    social sharing - facebook, pinterest
    blog commenting
    slideshare.net
    youtube videos

I personally think you should stop looking at the GA stats, and just start looking at the money being generated from immediate response advertising. The confusion with Google Analytics will lead your mind into crazy places mentally. Find a why to make the testing and tracking simple, and INCREDIBLY easy.

100% Agree on this. I would leave GA alone for a while and look at ways you can bring traffic to the site. If you sit there worrying about 1 or 2 real time visitors you are wasting promoting time

I agree with much of what is said above, especially about not spending too much valuable time worrying about metrics.

I have a very high ranking blog, and I barely know anything about the metrics behind it. Nor do I really care.

    I build my blog by
    (1) giving high quality, valuable posts [ps: I only blog once a week which is not a lot as blogging goes]; (2) answering all the comments I get fully and making sure I visit back the commenters on their blogs and leaving my own comment for there;
    (3) Making sure my replies and comments are always very well thought out, thorough, and add to the conversation;
    (4) Guest post often; I know people have methods for finding ways to guest post, but I've always built strong relationships so people usually ask me, I don't have to go hunting;
    (5) build a subscriber list and as part of hour email marketing strategy, link back to your blog posts often.

Patience, time and consistency are critical, and nothing works better than creating great content.

I love it, so all the hard work is fun for me.

Never do anything you don't love. It doesn't work on so many levels.

    Good luck!
