How do blogs make money?

Hey every one,

So let's say I have a blog or any type of site, that's getting a lot of traffic. I don't sell any thing on the site, I provide a free service of sorts.

How do I monetize that site?

I know through advertisement. But I don't want to do those cheap blue-link and text ad-sense ads. I mean how do I get PPC banners and such to go near the top and sides of my site and get paid by click. Is there a company I go to that connects high traffic sites with people who want to advertise through banners and such?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Blogs are traffic monsters you can monetize them with adsense or promote your own product or something on CPA or Clickbank and even build a email list. The options are unlimited.

      Hey,

Your name is extra random there!

      Anyway...

Adsense offers banners as well. They go along with adsense. You need an adsense account to access the banners.

If you have high traffic, I would reccomend castlemedia. They are a CPM banner company, but they offer high rates. You can't join unless you have sites with tens or even hundreds of thousands of visitors per month.

      Thank You,

Affiliate marketing, that's how most of my blogs make money. I forgot about any sort of CPM or CPC type ads like Adsense a long time ago. Not worth the time to put on your site unless you are targeting a niche you know will have high cost per click and you know how to rank such a competitive niche high in the search engines.

You could run a script that only shows a portion of the blog post and asks the reader to subscribe if they want to read the rest of the post. You would then have a list to promote as you see fit.

    Hey q1w2e3r4t5,

Do you have a blog up and running yet? - maybe you could post the URL so that warriors can swing by and help you out there.

You could open an Aweber account and use one of their web forms to build a list of email addresses. A good way to do that is to give something away for free on your blog. You could write a post about a report you've written, and offer to mail it automatically to your blog readers when they add their email address to your Aweber form.

You should do some searching online for PLR (Private Label Rights) material too, which you could use as your free gift on your blog. There's plenty of PLR material to buy online, but lots of people will also give you PLR ebooks if you join their email list - you guessed it... via their Aweber sign-up form.

Once you begin to build a list, you can communicate with those on your list to tell them about products you're releasing, products you've used and liked...etc.

Hopefully that helps in some way.

You should also head over to Clickbank.com to grab some banners for specific products from the Clickbank.com marketplace. Also, PayDotCom is similar to Clickbank in that you can promote other people's products, receiving a commission on each sale.

    Does this help q1w2e3r4t5?

    Hope so...

Blogs make money primaraly via affiliate sales.
Blogs are great for reviews, banner advertising
    and joint ventures.

Use your blog to build authority in order to leverage it
    later.

You know how you say "a Dollar saved is a Dollar earned", right?

Well, you can "earn" money with your blog, if you're using PPC to promote affiliate offer by creating a landing page for an affiliate offer related to your blog and having an all but invisible link (meaning light grey) to your main blog page at the bottom of the landing page. You then point your PPC links to this landing page.

You'll see that you'll be paying much less per click than you would had you only had a one-page site, since the search engine bots will "read" your blogposts and see all the topic-relevant pages.
