Default Are Bonuses necessary for REVIEW sites?

When creating highly niche single item review sites do people expect
a bonus? Is it advantageous to offer bonuses?

In general, IM who create review sites for biz opps and the like give
huge bonuses but I hate em with a vengeance as they overface me
and detract from the item I want to review or buy as the case may be.

Thanks guys...

Interesting question. Here's my take on it.

When doing a review, people expect you to be impartial. In other words, they don't expect you to be selling.

Offering bonuses is a sales technique. From the view of the potential customer, you lose your impartiality by becoming a sales person.

Now, that's just my theory. Review or sell.

All the best,
Michael

Offering bonuses is a great way to add value and increase conversions. I feel it is most important in the IM niche because most of these people know they could just buy from their own link so you need to offer them something they can't refuse so they will buy from you.

Yes I agree for ther IM niche, but I am not going down that route so for example if I were to do a review site for one or two expensive BBQ's (for which I would receive a commission) do you think that person would expect a bonus, I don't think so. I am in total agreement with misterwrecker's comments.

Thanks guys.

Yeah if you are reviewing BBQ grills, a bonus would not be necessary.

Yeah Michael does have a good points. You could, however, give them a bonussome other way. For example you could create a bbq list and give out your free report to get them to join. Then promote through your list. Building your credibility.

It is also important to recognise the buying cycle. When they are checking out your review and they deicde that that is the product they want to buy they may just going bargain hunting from site to site and when they do buy you may not get your commission. If you were to offer a great value bonus...yes it may take away from your credibility...but they may be more inclined to buy through your link. It's a trade off.

It really will depend on your niche and how much competition there is. It should be something you constantly test and refine.

yea, if i am truly recommending the product i might, but not when im reviewing... just doesn't seem right if you don't want to look like a salesman.

for opt-ins of course
