Use Private nameservers or not with a HostGator reseller account?

I'm going to create a reseller account with HostGator and I understand that I will have a choice between using the nameservers they set up, or using private nameservers.

Which is the best choice?
Are private nameservers primarily a branding option?

For the most part I will be using the account for my own domains, though I might occasionally set up a account for clients I tutor short-term.

Thanks!

If you are registering them in your own personal name with your home address, then you likely want privacy. If you have a company name and a professional address, then branding is an issue and you likely don't want privacy. I doubt one in ten of your clients will do a whois to find out...

I use a private mailbox for all my business mail. And had a PO Box before that.

So if I follow you, if I did not use a private mailbox I might prefer using their nameservers if I valued privacy of location. If I wanted my company to appear more professional I'd use the private nameservers.

You're right Peter about whois, most people never think to use it to see who owns a domain, if they even know what it is.
