How to go about hiring someone to fix up my website so I can get affiliate cash?

A couple months ago I created a website and I'm pretty horrible at it. I have a bunch of affiliates on board, but many of them are not relevant to the site. My goal is ultimately to have my website serve as a resource to hook people up with good retailers via the affiliate links I have provided.

However, in the past 2 months, I've got barely any clicks or impressions and $0.00 commission. I don't have the skills to turn this website into a money-making machine for me, but I know someone does.

That brings me to my next questions: How do I go about finding a freelancer or somebody to improve this website? Also, my site is hosted at bigrock.com. How do I even go about getting people to make changes to a site, without compromising security? Do I have to give them my passwords or is there a secure way? Or should I be 100 percent confident in trusting the freelancer with my password? Is there a way to do this?

For those who hired people to build/fix their websites: how exactly did you go about doing it? How did the process work? Any tips? Thanks!

Honestly, It would be hard if you don't know what's the problem of your website. If I were you I will start by troubleshooting why the income stopped.

#1 Are you doing SEO before? If yes you can check your google tools and see if you got penalized.

#2 Are you still getting traffic? Maybe your affiliate links are not working already.

#3 Are you getting clicks but not getting any sales? You can check your articles, landing page. Some landing page will work for some period only.

These just a few easy/basic steps to troubleshoot your website from here you can hire a specific person on how to solve the problem.

I'm saying this because you need to hire a person who is an expert on solving a specific problem. You can't just go to Freelancer and hire anyone to fix your site with a broad description of your problem.

When you post a job on Freelancer sites, make sure to describe everything with as much detail as possible. This will give people a quick overview if they can really solve the problem or not.

Let's say your problem is #1 then you should hire an SEO Expert.

if #2 then you might want to find a web developer, SEO works well too but it will be more expensive

if #3 then maybe you might need to find a copywriter.

I don't really know all too much about SEO, I'm a novice on that. Obviously, SEO would need to be improved, as well as the overall design of the website. I want it to look more attractive.

This is my website right now: The Beauty Hospital

I've done practically nothing with it over the past few months, I'm looking to practically revamp it. The trouble is I am not good at SEO and I am not good at web design. I'm just in it for the money!

Stop and look at it from that person's perspective. They would be taking some cash to redo your website so that you can rake in the affiliate revenues. Why wouldn't they just create the website and keep it for themselves?

Sure, you'll find people offering to take your website from 0 traffic to enough traffic to generate affiliate sales, but exactly 0% of them will deliver what they promise. Success in the affiliate game means that you absolutely must know how to build your own websites and produce your own content. That isn't to say you can't hire outside help, but you need to find at least a minimal level of success working on your own first so that you know what to expect of your hired help.

Any resources on how to learn to build/develop strong affiliate websites and content production that you can point out? Any tips for a newbie?

    Hi Drew,

The idea is a good one. And I speak from experience. If I understand your business model correctly, I run this same model myself.

Paying for web and marketing development is pricey. I know this because I have a web development agency.

It sounds like you have a relatively simple job on your hands, though. I'd suggest learning how to do it yourself.

    Some initial pointers:

    1. Research sites in your market.
    2. Make note of everything.
    3. Colours, layout, affiliate offers and networks, navigation.
    4. Grab yourself a premium theme from ThemeForest.net.
    5. Likewise, grab yourself plugins (Code Canyon, found on TF above).
    6. Reinvent your site, based on 1 to 3.
    7. Learn how to grow platforms on socials.
    8. Learn how to market on socials.

You should do very well if you follow that plan.

    Cheers,

    Tom

I do this type of thing for people all the time and most of them have no trouble handing over passwords. However a couple of cautions. You must have an off site full backup before you grant anyone access. Download it and store it on different computers in different places. Next if you get a bad feeling about a freelancer trust it. Also make sure you pay them as agreed. There are many ways a person can create backdoors and take down sites if you don't treat them properly and some freelancers will do that.
