SURVEY: Do you need a popup maker? Quick Yes/No

Hi,

SUMMARY: Do you need a popup (popover) maker software, or are there enough tools, scripts, softwares and services out there, for you to create popups easily? Can you please tell me what script/tool/soft/service you currently use to create your popups?

Here's the thing.. There are tons and tons of popups, popup scripts and services out there. But my personal search (some time ago), I couldn't find many decent, simple popover makers - where you just enter the options (like size, position, style and popup page URL etc) and it generates a simple code for you to put on your website.

- There are jquery popups (most of which need a bit of editing - esp to trigger the popup automatically, and also have a bit of a learning curve for those not familiar with jquery)
- There are some javascript popup makers - which have shitty designs (with ugly titlebars) and bad asthetics. Are not very customizable - no time-delay options, the exit-intent doesn't work well, no cookies, screw up the vertical positioning if the height of the popup is large, no option to turn them off for mobile etc etc.
- There are nice looking exit popup services , with awesome designs and templates, offer integration with tons of autoresponder services, have tracking and even split testing, but - which charge you a monthly/yearly fee for using them.

I needed a simple online/web generator where I just enter the various options I need - and it will generate the code for the popup I need. It should be fairly customizable, with all kinds of options & features that one might need & can think of, like: open after time delay OR on exit-intent, specify size, positioning, style of popup, cookies, auto-close after a time delay, cookies, show a different or no popup for mobile devices etc..

So the point of this post - I can invest my time, efforts and money in creating a decent popup maker, but do YOU (other people) need one? I don't see ANYBODY asking, searching for or struggling with how to make & put popups on their website. So I was wondering, do people still really need a popup maker in 2015? (I talked to a programmer about this and he thought it was a stupid idea and laughed at me). So my question to you all..

DO YOU NEED A POPUP MAKER?

If you do, can you pleaseee give me some feedback and answer here with a quick yes ("YES, I need a popup maker")? Also if you can tell about me any specific features you are looking for.. that would be awesome..

IF YOU DON'T..

..again, can you pleaseeee give me some feedback and tell me what script/tool/product/service you currently use to make your popups?

Thanks a lot all..

I like ninja pop ups for wordpress specifically because of the exit intent feature. When your visitor goes to leave a really cool and ethical pop up can appear enticing them to stay with a valuable offer that they might otherwise miss out on.

Focus on mobile users. The point behind my opinion is to current trending on most people are used to use desktops and laptops for official things and mobiles for the entertain. Usually, people don't respond on popups while they're busy.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, all. Some good points..

I think the verdict is clear: NO. I guess time to dump the idea and move on - even though I felt I needed one, coz the current ones are not easy to work with and don't have all the options I need. Welcome some more feedback on this..

One thing that practically every pop up maker is missing is the ability to use more than just the first name and email. For example, I have some fields I want filled in for a lot of my customers but it seems to be most of the themes are coded for just one or two fields. Now, if you could make some templates that would let me pull in more fields and have the exit intent and others, I would buy it.

That's exactly my point. Not just multiple fields, the current ones lack custmization on so many levels, like -
        - what if you want to have a two step popup (like question/survey -> show next popup based on answer).
        - What if you wanna have a popup that automatically closes after 10 seconds. What if you wanna include a countdown timer on top of the popup saying 'Popup will close in X seconds'
        - What if you want the close button to show up after 3 secs (so the viewer MUST view popup for at least 3 secs).
        - What if you want it to show only after X seconds of page load
        - What if you want to create different types of pops, like a top toolbar, or a bottom toolbar, or a corner docked one that shows up when you scroll down the page
        And so much more..

I think if you do a little digging you will find all kinds of pop up makers that allow for multiple layers of customization.

Do I need another popup maker? No.

    Sam,

There is a product on the market that helps you get people to view your exit page if you want to either capture more leads or give your visitors a discount.

So when someone clicks on X and wants to leave your website, a new page will appear.

    The software is called ExitSplash.com.
