What attracts more visitors?

What attracts more visitors in your eyes?

Something that's totally different from the other websites/blogs in your market/niche/industry?

Or a site that provides tremendous value?

Or a bit of both?

In my opinion, I actually believe that a site that's totally different from everyone else will attract more visitors but that also raises another question:

Will this unique site keep them coming back for more?

So the most logical answer would be a bit of both since you need something special to stand out in a noisy jungle, ESPECIALLY if you're entering the internet marketing topic (also how to make money online). But then you also need to provide some insanely valuable content to get the the potential customers/clients thinking:

"Hm, this guy actually offers some good content, I'll have to remember this one"

What's your take on all of this?

Its based on your position in the marketplace.

You could offer the best value, but if no one knows who you are then visitors will be hard to come by.

And precisely how would they know this before arriving at your site, in the first place???

Aside from what's already been said is ... "Referrals"! Being referred by another authoritative person, site, review, even search engine, etc.

What you say about yourself through ads is nice. But what "someone in authority" says about your site sends more people racing to sites than any other method.

Also if you can find someway of pre-selling others before they visit your site you'll usually have a more attentive visitor.

        This.

Didn't even think about it when I wrote the title of this thread!

Anyway, I've seen many entrepreneurs who began their online careers by starting from the other side of the spectrum, with the majority of the online marketers on the opposite side.

For example, Derek Halpern was one of the first to really talk about the psychology of online marketing, in a way that few had seen before. That's one of the biggest reasons for his success.

Then we have John Lee Dumas who launched Entrepreneur On Fire, a website with a podcast show 7 days a week, which was rare to come by at the time.

My point is that both of these entrepreneurs started with something different than the rest of the market and made a career out of it. They were being referred to over and over again by authoritative business owners because of their unique approach which provided some great value in the process.

        Lesson to take with you:

You need to stand out in the noisy crowd which is the Internet, whether or not you're selling something. It's because of the fact that you're unique and special that you bring value to the people, in a totally different way.

Or am I undeniably and unquestionably wrong?

Just my personal two cents on the matter

A site with something that simply cannot be ignored, like an outrageous discount, deal, or opportunity unheard of or offered no where else. This is a fast way to build, hype, attention, and a following.

I do not focus as much on getting them there as much as I focus on keeping them there once they arrive
