Default My Article Life Span at Ezinearticles In the Past 3 Weeks…And a Question

I submitted my first ever article to Ezinearticles on 7/7 and it was accepted on 7/14. I immediately applied most of Angela’s July 2009 Backlinks. I then rewrote it for submission to GoArticles.

After the rewrite, I wanted to see how I did the bullet formatting, so I had to open it in edit mode in EA because view mode does not show the formatting. On 7/15 while it was open, it prompted for auto save, and without thinking, I clicked Yes. So now I had to resubmit it.

The article originally debuted at # 19 in Google for my long tail key word not in quotes. I got up to # 9 before I resubmitted it. And during the time it was being reviewed for the second time, it stayed on the second page on Google.

The article was accepted again on 7/21 and since then it has been slowly dropping on Google and today is at # 33 and appears to be heading down. As of today it has 73 views and 60 click throughs directly to the affiliate offer. (I’d say 60 of the views and 50 of the click throughs are legitimate, the others would be me).

Also on 7/26, another EA article, from another author, appeared using my exact LTKW and it’s currently at # 14 and appears to be rising. It has no backlinks yet that I can tell.

When I check my backlinks using various tools, it only shows 3 backlinks. And SEO for Firefox shows “Y! Page Links: 0”.

Now for my question, how long does backlinking normally take to kick in? I know it depends on when Google gets around to crawling the pages with the backlinks, but how often is that typically? I'm not concerned at this time with the number of views, I'm focusing on Google ranking.

Any other insight would be appreciated as well. Trying to pick up on the trends myself is just dragging on too long.

Thank You,
Phil

There are over 200 posts since I posted this morning, and no replies, so this likely will not be seen unless I bump it. Maybe the night crowd can enlighten us. Or maybe this just isn't worthy of a reply.

Thanks,
Phil

Backlink updates do not happen immediately, you generally have to wait some time to see them listed/indexed.

I'd give it at LEAST 2-3 weeks.

LOL

I was hesitant to bump because I don't see that too often here. Thanks for the answers.

Yea - bumping is not a good idea around here. But I thought I'd be positive instead of negative.

Thanks healymedia. Unfortunately those clicks equated to zero sales. But I'm more interested in learning the methods at this point. I probably didn't select the ideal product.

I think you're over-analyzing this first article. Spend your time writing and submitting 20 more while you're waiting for results.

Or build your own site.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I'm still finding my way around here, so that's good to know. I already made a PM blunder that I wish I can take back, but live and learn.

I already have a site that's been online since 2002 but it's not monetized at all and it's been dormant for the past two years. I just started updating it again last week. Today I installed Wordpress in a subdirectory so I can figure it out (themes, headers, sidebars, etc). I plan to get related affiliate links in there and start driving traffic.

It's a personal site that tracks a unique goal I have that folks seem interested in. I actually have followers with zero effort...they found me.

I just found this thread where yommys01 asked a similar question a few days before I did.

For anyone reading this thread who wants to see a more through discussion on the topic, yommys01's thread has many good replies.
