Default A Good Contents Page, Using OpenOffice Writer?

I've been trying to create a well organised contents page using open office writer..

Where a chapter would be labelled

1 .......................................... Safety First
1.1 ...................................... Sub Chapter

Im not able to line it up neat and tidy, it's all over the place and really starting to stress me out lol.

Any ideas how I conquer this contents page?

Best Wishes

Intrepreneur.

I want a good keyword researcher, not for min sites but for tech articles. Hit me up if you've got those skillz!

Use the table of contents feature, and then it will do it automatically when you have finished.

use heading 1, heading 2 etc for the heading of the chapters and sub chapters

Let's pretend your content is this.

Heading

sub heading

words galore.

You should see Default, font, and font size in your toolbar.

Take the word heading, and highlight, go to default and change to heading 1

Now do the same for sub-heading and change to heading 2

This is important to do.

Once your book is finished, go to the page where you want your table of contents. It should be blank apart from title.

Insert

Indexes and Tables

Indexes and Tables

It will automatically pick up all the heading, heading1 and put them into a table of contents with page numbers
